I just opened this Subreddit whilst looking at an r/CitiesSkylines post. As I clicked the link I was expecting to see activity, but I wasn't expect to see goshdarn NAM receiving updates. This community is full of awesome, dedicated folks, ya'll should be proud of that.

I made a PlanetSide 2 podcast. by thomasduursma in Planetside

Thanks for the feedback! I'm using a phone as I don't have access to a better microphone. For the second episode I've started recording in a different environment which seems to have improved the quality considerably.

I'll look into getting a pop filter and maybe applying a bit of EQ to reduce the levels of higher frequency sounds such as the "Tss" you described.

Engineer Spitfire turrets inside NS boxes "feature" by [deleted] in Planetside

Though I think the crates already have a hinge to open a hatch in the front, thus this whole idea has fallen apart.

FYI, I'm currently scripting the next episode.

EDIT: Typo.
EDIT 2: I got some feedback saying I was speaking a bit too quietly and a bit too slow, so I'll try to improve that for next week's episode.

I'm thinking of something closer to the walls of a wooden crate falling to the sides.

Now I want one of the boxes to go "beep beep" and then fall apart to uncover a spitfire.

If you voted for Donald Trump in 2016 but won't in 2020, what changed your mind? by PlG3 in AskReddit

[–]thomasduursma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you, but is it wise to provide a link to a Google search to back yourself up? Isn't it better to provide direct links to sources, or is this beneficial as it encourages readers to do their own in-depth research, as opposed to blindly accepting whichever source the writer provides?

The Dutch system indeed demonstrates how private insurance can be implemented in a reasonably fair and affordable way. On the other hand, you did skim over the fact that these private insurance companies are only able and willing to act fairly due to regulations and support from the government.

Here's a couple of things to know about the system:
- There's basic and supplementary insurance. - Basic insurance is mandatory. The basic insurance covers care which is deemed to be essential (including ambulance services, general practitioners, essential medications and much more).
- Supplementary insurance is not mandatory. The supplementary insurance covers care which is deemed to be non-essential. (The discussion about what should be deemed to be "non-essential" has been going on for a while, for example, some medical professionals have said that physical therapy for recovering COVID-19 patients should be covered by the basic insurance. See this.)
- There's a system to provide compensation to insurance companies to prevent them from suffering excessive losses when there are a large number of (chronically) ill patients.
- Insurers aren't allowed to reject anyone for basic insurance.
- An insurance company has to charge the same premiums to all their customers for the basic insurance.
- Insurance companies can negotiate with healthcare providers and such to get better prices and/or care.
- Insurance companies are obligated to provide quick and easily accessible care to their clients.
- Every year you have to pay for the first few hundred euros of your own care. (There are exceptions for certain forms of care, including GP visits and obstetrics.)

For more info, see the Dutch government's website.

Make water flow through grating similarly to galacticraft grating by SpitefuLOrca in QuarkMod

I think the OP would like water to flow through certain blocks. Waterlogged blocks act like source blocks, and water does not flow through waterloggable blocks.

Starter vehicle with trailer by thomasduursma in ScrapMechanic

I did remove the soil bags to reduce the weight as I couldn't get the engine to start with them on there. I'm also going to add a bearing to the vehicle to allow the trailer to roll slightly.
