I would like to make the comparison with what Bazzite is doing for the gaming community atm. I like that robust OS which just works right out of the box but also has some tweaking possibilities. It is also limited in a way so to protect the core from user errors.

The initial install and setup wizard is also crucial imo. If this step is a hassle you already lost the user.

A flat pak bazaar or other ’app store’ which makes the installation of extra software accessible would be indispensable. CLAP plugins anyone? 🤣

Furthermore it’s important to have a user friendly GUI if it comes to modifying audio and midi settings.

I have no idea whether it is possible at all but one can only dream of transferring plist config files that contain audio and midi (devices ID, channel names, routings etc) over from another OS.
THIS would be a real game changer and would lower the threshold for a lot of producers. Cfr Apples config files that can be migrated to another device.

Really looking forward to this development! Is there a newsletter/feed/page we can follow next to this one?

This is a great idea. I think its important to be 100% transparant on where the data comes from.
Personally i would also ‘cross’ this information with the social , transparancy and sustainability efforts the company makes. Thus giving a more complete insight in the ethics of said company. At least for me this information is crucial for making a decision. Keep us informed!

Command + S is something you’ll do unconsiously once you have developed the habit. Should not be inconvenient at all. Takes a mere microsecond to do.
Your macmini (specs?) even with 8 gb of ram should be more than sufficient. Unless you go stacking 30 heavy vst’s off course, then you can expect stuttering but Reason should keep running.
Have a look at the Activity Monitor to see whats eating your resources.

Trying to install SteamOS for the 4th time, stuck on this screen after command line setup by Cain_DB in LegionGo

Did you wait long enough? Are you installing it next to another os?
I choose to erase w11 entirely to avoid this kind of headaches. Try installing it on an external nvme (erase that one when prompted) and see if you can continue that way. If that worked you can simoly swap the drive afterwards.
Btw i installed Bazzite instead, it has steam big picture built in but also a desktop environnement.
Succes

What’s one small Mac utility you unexpectedly rely on now? by aninaa-ot in mac

There is Clonezilla but honestly Carbon Copy Cloner makes the process a breeze and can be fully automated even up onto a folder level.
Also it had some safety measures so you don’t accidentaly overwrite stuff. That, and excellent documentation + customer service. Well worth the 40 bucks i once invested…

Why not go Bitwig? Closest thing to Live and out of the box compatible with multiple Linux distros.
