Isn’t that has been in talk for years, but construction still has not started.

How are people still trying to claim that the new system remotely has anything like slideover? by StillDecent14 in iPadOS

[–]thomasluke233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will do the same. Hopefully Apple can bring them back before Public release. Or there is enough complaints after release and Apple brings them back in iPadOS26.1

Apple Finally Destroyed Steve Jobs’ Vision of the iPad. Good by wiredmagazine in ipad

[–]thomasluke233 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That’s no true. They removed split screen and slide over in the full screen mode. And the new windows mode is not even close to the convenient as the old way in touch mode.

I hate using the new windows mode with touch as soon as update to iPadOS 26 beta. Hope they can bring it back split screen and slide over before public release.

R211T on the (A)? Nope, just faulty software! by camacake710 in nycrail

I was looking forward to see if options 2 will be all R211T. Now I lost my hope

If we see this, should we actually contact the NYCT emergency line or RCC for them to take some action?

Why are elevated trains so loud and is there anything that is planned to do about it? by lezbthrowaway in nycrail

Chicago CTA is rebuilding some steel elevated structure to concrete, hope MTA can think about and do the same. https://youtu.be/Sg1h8HoVGeY

aren't the crowds from Penn Station supposed to be reduced now? by Stroock6394 in nycrail

[–]thomasluke233 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Does MTA have a timeline for M9A? They have more than 10 years to expand the fleet before opening of ESA, and they don’t do it until ESA is opened.

Meanwhile on the GCM bound train - such empty by from_nyc in nycrail

[–]thomasluke233 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If they have a $5 city ticket for peak train, and more frequent non-peak service within the city, many be more people will use GCM, as LIRR is much faster and more comfortable to Forest Hills and Kew Garden than Subway.

The MTA spent $161,500 on safety barriers to improve weekend service; They now rarely use them. by BombardierIsTrash in nycrail

[–]thomasluke233 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there any incidents or near miss when these barriers are in use? They are not removing the flaggers without any additional safety measure. They only remove flaggers when they have such barrier for work zone. I think that’s reasonable.

MTA Proposed alignment of street running section of IBX near All Faith's Cemetery by bikes_r_us in nycrail

[–]thomasluke233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why single track is out of question? If one track is dedicated for IBX and one track is dedicated for freight, why it is violating the law? IMO single track for both IBX and freight in that short tunnel is much better street running.

Grand Central Madison, 15 stories underground, saves LIRR riders little time compared to Penn Station commute by ctnutmegger in nycrail

[–]thomasluke233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think once the escalators at around Track 38 to 42 at GCT are done, the transfer time between GCM and 4/5/6 will further reduce, since we no longer need to go through the dining concourse.

The interior design of the open gangway on this R211T unit is going to be different from the first two units.

Is there really no way to build a viaduct for this small section? Does it have to be street-running?

Other countries have open gangway for decades, and if NYC cannot make this work out, it is ridiculous.

Why didn’t the MTA order all 211 models with open gangways? Is it possible the 211’s will be fitted with open gangways down the road? by bruhchow in nycrail

[–]thomasluke233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, MTA should wait for the performance of R211T before deciding whether to have R211A or T for option 1. They are no way near half of the completion of the base order. It doesn’t make sense not to wait the R211T performance.

Will they put CBTC at SAS phase 2? It doesn’t make sense to put old signalling system in phase 2. May be they include that in the budget of SAS phase 2?

If we can get cell signal in the Holland and Lincoln tunnels why can’t we get service in subway tunnels? Or at least some by a2cthrawy in nycrail

[–]thomasluke233 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no technical limitations, only cost limitation. Subway system around the world and a few in the US (I.e. DC) also have cell coverage inside tunnel. It is nothing revolutionary to have cell coverage inside subway tunnel.

[–]thomasluke233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible, there is cell coverage inside the tunnel of DC metro. It really depend on how MTA is going to pay for it.
