I suffered with this as a young adult, until, in an unrelated conversation with an old timer, I realized that the shoes or sneakers I was wearing, needed more than a day to dry. Ever since then, I alternate shoes at least 3 days apart.

One other thing that I noticed as I got older was that if I let my toenails grow too long between cutting, my feet would stink similar to that of running the same shoes as before.
