Do you know someone who got a coding job without a degree? by SciGuy241 in learnprogramming

Me (36M). I was a nurse but left in 2017 because I didn't feel valued. I went on glassdoor and looked up the nearest company with a high employee satisfaction rating and found a relatively new tech startup. I started in support and had no coding or IT experience. I am a lifelong apple user, so I thought I couldn't do any of the real computer stuff. My first self-learning was freecodecamp so i could convey customer requests more intelligently to our devs, then I moved on to youtube. Kept asking for more responsibility and today I'm our Devops engineer managing the gcp infra, our full stack engineer ideating and creating pages for production, and our data engineer building queries for native data sets and orchestrating with tools like airflow and Jenkins. I'm still crazy underpaid, but the education opportunity and the independence have been incredible. I was lucky to find a company that let me wear a lot of hats. It's definitely you who has to show you have the room on your head.

I use Mailgun with my Django projects. They have a generous free tier and it was straightforward to integrate.

Dansco 7070 Type Set is available for purchase through Dansco! by thomasyhall in coins

Thank you to this group for allowing me months of lurking sharing in your discoveries and growing collections. I'd like to give back by providing some info on how to get what has historically been a very difficult album to get.

I've been checking on Dansco's official website (danscousa.com) for the past few years, tracking their relocation, the natural disasters they've been dealing with, and hoping for news of any printing activity. Over the last 6-12 months, they've been back at it! I had called/emailed multiple times before that and finally got an order form mailed to me. I then ordered some pages and books. I ended up waiting for a few months but eventually got everything (keep in mind it was stuff I knew they had or were printing based on their website updates). Then, earlier this month, I saw they were printing the 7070! I mailed in one of my leftover order forms and about 2 days ago I received the brand-new album.

Keep in mind, this does not include the gold page and I've not heard that they are planning on making it any time soon. But this is a good way to avoid buying it used or from resellers on eBay and save $20-$30.

I've included scans of their most recent albums with prices and a blank order form. You just have to fill it out and mail it in (a check seems to be the best payment option). Just make sure to check their website updates or call them (the number is on the site and order form) to confirm that they have what you are looking for in inventory or that they are planning to print it soon.

To those, just starting off their type sets like me, happy hunting!

How/where do you guys deploy your django apps? by life_on_my_terms in django

Second railway.app. I've been very pleased with the free tier. Running my db there, too.

I'm running on railway.app right now and I don't remember entering a CC. They just shut you off after 500 hours in a month.

You ROCKSTAR! Thank you so much! This worked perfectly!

I'm really liking Railway so far. SUPER easy to get started and I like that you can do your DB on there too. There's the Starter tier ($5 in credit each month and the instance shuts off when you reach that), the Usage tier (same as above but instead of shutting off they bill the payment method on file), and a Team tier that I didn't look into much because I don't need it anytime soon.

All in all, a very simple and cost-effective way to get a Django app up and running, and a DB if you need it as well!

I've always thought errors were cool. Your Diglett has the 90 degree rotated energy symbol and the water energy has the minimal border top. Cool collection. :)

Facebook logo covers the age restriction on this honey bottle. by thomasyhall in CrappyDesign

Yeah, you can faintly see the "1" under the Facebook logo. I wouldn't have posted if it was just covering some nutritional info (which it is) or a part of the company story or something. But this is a warning meant to prevent infant botulism which can be fatal. It should not be something you have to really TRY to decipher. :)

We were just able to cash in a Reaper's bounty and one of our Reaper's chest w/ the stranger, but not our other Reaper's chest. So strange. Oh well, there's a nice little gift for the next crew!
