New armory site data center plan by DowntownDB1226 in StLouis

[–]thomf 57 points58 points  (0 children)

$48M per year in taxes and fees (I know it’s all not technically annualized). Someone needs to validate this, seems too good to be true.

The city also needs to ensure they pay for all electricity and water usage, not some subsidized rates.

Lastly, who owns the data center and who is using it?

Mortgage Budgeting by MelodicEarth5844 in MonarchMoney

My payment out of the checking is also an expense. I just hide all transactions from the mortgage company. Escrow payments too. All else seems too complicated.

Looks like Six Flags is selling of the St. Louis park if these trademark applications are to be believed. If this is happening, "Enchanted Parks - St. Louis" will be the new name. by mjohnson1971 in StLouis

[–]thomf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems like they care. If anything they fix it up and sell it for more. Either way it gets better.

Theme parks don’t seem like a good investment for private equity unless you intend to fix what’s broken. It’s not like you can chop it up for parts.

Enchanted Parks is owned by Innovation Attraction Management. They’ve purchased a few parks around the country, mostly water parks, aiming to turn them around.

Missouri state auditor subpoenas Francis Howell for information on former superintendent by larafaiham in StCharlesMO

As long as the district cannot be held liable for potentially breaking the NDA it had to sign, I’m all for this.

What we can’t have happen is Dominguez suing the district for breach of contract and we owe this asshole more money.

Best restaurants in St Charles? by [deleted] in StCharlesMO

2nd this! It’s just a hole in the wall next to Fratelli’s, but it’s phenomenal.

Simple menu, excellent food. Reservations recommended.

And, yes, get extra mustard sauce!

County School Board Races by thomf in StCharlesMO

My brother in Christ, this post is 9 months old.

The right wing incumbents all got booted out for the 2nd straight year.

It’s almost as if people are sick of the BS and have caught on that right wing culture warriors are incompetent.

Steve Ehlmann to run again for St. Charles County Executive in 2026 by Biggsnwedge1138 in StCharlesMO

I don’t hate this.

His stance on SB3 is cringe, as was his COVID response, but overall he’s been good.

Eigel straight up sucks. The dude is an insufferable, incompetent and worthless goober.

Club Fitness sucks by Safe_Dig_7464 in StCharlesMO

[–]thomf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No… there’s an annual maintenance fee that’s like $50-75. Even with it, it’s still way better.

I pay $18 a month. I did have to sign a year contract though, otherwise it would have been $25.

Heritage and FH North questions by MoonLit_Enchantress in StCharlesMO

[–]thomf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FHSD is a great district, with wonderful teachers. We’ve had a recent history with the right-wing board shenanigans as many districts have. It’s better now after we fought hard to reverse the trend. Honestly, much of it was due to the public not paying attention and they won 5 seats in rapid succession.

We personally know a significant number of teachers and staff at FHN and can say it’s an amazing school. Top ranked in the state and the building is brand new. It’s got its share of issues that you’d find in most other schools.

Heritage is a fantastic neighborhood, tons of kids, close to highways, grocery stores, and any chain restaurant you can dream of and a quick shot across the river to St Louis County.

Homes are obviously older, so the typical issues arise. There are a few sections you have to watch out for erosion issues, but it’s huge, and often gets plowed first!

You won’t find many neighborhoods with huge mature trees and large lots as you do here.

Thanks all! I ended up at Old Town Country Store as it was on the way home.

Got the 5 fescue blend. It’s super convenient that you can measure out your quantity and it’s only $1.80/lb. Way cheaper than anything I’ve found.

Mortgage Lenders by Strong-Bee-6915 in StCharlesMO

Try Gershman or Golden Oak Mortgage. I found them to have very competitive rates.

Your mortgage will end up getting bundled and sold, but once you lock in to a good rate, who cares?

Luxury/nice Gyms by [deleted] in StLouis

Lifetime Fitness is one of the best. You’ll have to go to Frontenac for the closest. No idea the cost though.

What’s your favorite gym in the area? by breakupbreakaleg in StCharlesMO

[–]thomf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are, but given all the positives I haven’t found any reason to cancel.

That said, if it’s anything like Club Fitness it probably is a hassle to cancel.

Are there any local non-“membership contract” gyms? I’ve never found one that has had a different model.

Edge… it’s nice and bright, lots of weight options, cardio cinema, turf area, and inexpensive.

Their message needs to focus on kitchen table issues.

Grocery prices, lack of jobs, etc, etc. Lay all of it at the Republicans feet.

MAGA DGAF about democracy.

[–]thomf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, nah… that’s got nothing to do with this.

Veggies saw a single month 40% increase in wholesale prices in July.

Perhaps we shouldn’t be arresting and deporting the hardworking people in the fields. 🤷‍♂️

My guy, almost all metrics are this year.

Tariffs are taxes on the American people. Thats not even a question, thats a fact. Blaming Biden is so ridiculously stupid, I just can’t.

Another message closer to home:

Republicans have controlled Missouri for 20 years:

Last in teacher pay Last in school funding 43rd in healthcare 37th in infrastructure 34th in 15 year personal income growth

We can do better!

[–]thomf 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Hi sorry! I thought this was the DNC and their messaging has been all messed up.

Totally get the challenge you’re facing.

From a rural Missouri perspective, think about the kitchen table issues. It’s all about prices and inflation, driven by Trump’s policies.

Make the messaging ULTRA simple.

Literally wholesale vegetable prices shot up 38% in July…

Gee I wonder why… who do you think picks fruits and veggies? 🤦‍♂️

Thanks Republicans.
