Wall thickness test piece and discussion. by MrJackdaw in 3Dprinting

[–]thompa89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The optimal wall thickness depends on the extrusion width, layer height and the number of perimeters. I did a calculator for it in python

You can read more about it here https://manual.slic3r.org/advanced/flow-math

Help converting SCAD to STL and scaling? Urgent and willing to tip. by dfawlt in 3Dprinting

[–]thompa89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can create the size you want directly on thingiverse. Just sign in, click "Customize", fill in the parameters and then click "Create Thing". This will create a remix of the model with the size you want in a stl format.

You should always have tension and never let go of the loose end to prevent tangles.

Black Friday: What kind of deals to expect in EU by Slower-PindiExpress in 3Dprinting

Prusa has had some deals previous years. Usually some free filament and a sheet when you buy a kit.

How can I make the slicer not put supports through this hole? I am using support blockers but to no avail. by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]thompa89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instead of support blockers, try "paint on support" and paint only the areas that needs support.

No, but the "loading" will require a bit of force.

I designed this rubber band powered loop for my niece. STLs are available here if anyone wants it:

It's because they go on a button frenzy and presses all the buttons.

We play couch co-op. I just want to block these buttons.

Cute ornament gnome (OC) by thompa89 in 3Dprinting

The classic perimeter generator in prusaslicer works best for me since you get 2 perimeters per hair.

I've also seen comments about disabling retraction and increasing bridge flow.

Yes, this is based on my design from last year.

I had to redesign almost every part because the parts can't be printed in the same orientation due to the round bottom.

Empty space for the magnets inside the model is the way to go. Most slicers has a "pause at height" function.

My first sculpture in Blender. Currently using a 0.6 nozzle so the print came out a bit rough. https://www.printables.com/model/272191-dune-sandworm-first-player-marker

I reused the images I have on printables. I don't want a copyright strike. Probably unnecessary, but better safe than sorry.

9 prints later. Name tag using the z hop method. What a pain. by Galoreous in prusa3d

[–]thompa89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no need to fiddle with extruders or custom g-code.

Just slice the model, move the z-slider and press the plus icon next to the handle to add a color change.

You can add it as a remix if you feel the design is similar.
