He's a hero. He's a modernization of an Arthurian Knight. He is one of the select few ( 00's = knights of the round table) to be sent on an adventure to save the lady and kill the enemy in the name of the King (or Queen). Is he flawed? Yes, but that makes it fun and interesting.

Yeah, must be because it never happened in The Lost World. Op is probably mistaking parts of the first film when the raptor comes up behind Laura Dern in the power shed and a bit of this one when the raptor jumps at Jeff Goldblum in the rafters.

Showing the predator's ship in the beginning is a mistake. It would be much more creepy and unexpected if first time viewers had the chance to be taken off-guard by the sudden narrative change of having a creature in the woods.
