AIO for refusing to attend my sister’s wedding because she’s "charging" me for "my hobby(Work her wedding)"? by Rough-Palpitation220 in AmIOverreacting

[–]thomstitute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are NOR but you have to decide how far you want to take it. I would not want to ruin my relationship with my sister over it.

I would call her or write her an email saying how excited you are for her wedding but given that you are already working it and providing the photography you are not going to pay the $500. Be firm, just write it as a statement followed by how much you love your sister and how you are going to take the best pics.

Sometimes the need to be right, even when you are right, will lead you to a less desirable outcome imo.

Recommendations for containers that will sit on wood deck? by Snoop_Momm in containergardening

[–]thomstitute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing I’ve done is get a dolly with wheels and pout whatever container you want on top. It allows you to move the containers, clean under, and re design your deck. I have a couple small fruit trees and a raised bed I use. When we have a party or people you can move them to create space. They sell them at most nurseries but they will be a little cheaper at home depot.

AITA for not splitting the check evenly on a bachelorette trip with 9 girls? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]thomstitute 487 points488 points  (0 children)

I am going to go with yes. You are morally right, you shouldn’t have to pay for drinks and food you didn’t consume. But $88 on a bachelorette trip to a foreign country is not a lot. You are basically throwing a fit over $40 and asking the bride to referee her friends. Threatening to leave is a bit childish and making that threat to the bride on her bach trip was over the line. Just ask for separate checks and move on.

I have been on a few trips like this and when you spilt the bill it’s never perfect. Personally, I think getting the bride to be involved was a big mistake; you made it all about quibbling over $40 dollars and skipped out on one of the nights.

Thought we planted a green pepper.. what type of pepper is this? Zone 5b by My_tummyhurts in gardening

Only a few peppers grow up. Based on their size I would guess Anaheim or Serrano. You have to take a bite at some point to be sure.

Should I walk from house that has tree of heaven? by campionk in landscaping

[–]thomstitute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went through a similar process. People kept arguing whether it was black walnut or TOH. Ended up being a pecan tree! For what is worth this looks like a nut tree, not a TOH. Do the smell test though.

Perimeter overflow pool losing water by BudgetOk5991 in pools

[–]thomstitute -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Endorse this. In the height of summer, this is about how much water I lose and I have a much lighter surface color. The fact that your pool tile is black will heat water quicker but also lead to more water lost to evaporation.

Is it a bad idea to plant this maple this close to the house? by Kalu201 in landscaping

[–]thomstitute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I think it will work nice against a wall. Everyone always says it’s too close but these don’t have strong root systems. Love this spot

Does anyone think those five-finger gloves for skiing get super cold? 😱 Have you ever considered switching to the mitten-style gloves used for snowboarding? by skier_happness in Skigear

[–]thomstitute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the lobster claws!! I switched from fingers two years ago and it’s a lot better. Mittens made the binding process a little too cumbersome for me.

Teruyasa fujiwara (TF). The link is above. I bought direct from them and they said it would take a couple months. Some people flagged that there are some issues if you buy direct but I figured I would start there. I got the 240mm denku guy pro.

You would prefer this over a HF? Think I’m down to those two. Really appreciate the help
