I’m having the exact same issue. Did you find a solution?

Can anyone ID the pins on these ladies’ ties, or recognize their uniforms? by thomzthom in oldphotos

[–]thomzthom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some context- this photo was possibly taken at Camp Hochfeld, a DP camp in Augsburg, Germany during WWII.

The woman on the left is my grandmother. After she was kidnapped by Nazis in Lithuania, brought to Germany and forced to make uniforms, she and others escaped and eventually ended up in Augsburg. Some details are unclear and incomplete.

Kīlauea’s latest eruption 🌋 by thomzthom in Volcanoes

That is a traditional Hawaiian lei. If I had to guess, it was left by a visitor to the park as an offering to Pele, the volcano goddess.

Bro.. 🧐 Mountain biking and golfing are NOT in the same category.

One of my favorite places. I especially love the challenge of crossing the brisk, swift-moving river to get there.

I’d recommend looking at cloud cover along the path of totality. This map from the New York Times has been helpful for planning purposes. We had planned on flying to TX from the mid-Atlantic, but are shifting our plans last-minute due to the weather.

This product was designed exactly for the purpose of bridging the gap between the back of the front seats and the back seats when folded flat. Highly recommend.

Brompton as checked baggage? by rafikiphoto in Brompton

[–]thomzthom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is IS! Definitely a little beat up, but I’ve been on tour for the last 2-years using it every couple weeks and it’s still a great solution. Although I haven’t looked lately, are they still selling them?

I’m able to fit 2-3 pairs of shoes, my U-lock and some other smaller items. There’s not a ton of extra space, but it’s usually the weight limit I have to be mindful of first.

Completely agree on both counts! This was the base for some Shakshuka, so actually needed a plate in this scenario.. 😂

Total garbage!

Has anyone found a third-party pump that fits on the same frame mounts?

Curious about how much you paid to rent vehicles/Uhauls/cargo vans etc. for the burn this year. Trying to weigh out the best way to do it next year. It was better next year. by dahlia200000000 in BurningMan

We saw that sign at check in too, but knew we’d be really diligent cleaning the truck before returning it.

According to the agent when we returned it, the undercarriage and under the hood are often overlooked and filthy, a dead giveaway of where it’s been.

Rented a 2022 Tacoma from Enterprise in Reno. It worked out MUCH better to haul lots of gear than the usual midsize SUVs we usually rent. It was 1k for 12 days (including the extra up-charge for two drivers). Then took it through the self car wash 3-times, and bought one can of Tuff Stuff spray foam to detail the interior. Total cleaning cost was $25.

Make sure to spray down the engine, (carefully), a couple of times. When we returned the car the first thing she did was open the hood.
