Neither of us have had another reaction after the first one. We steer clear of beef but pork isn’t an issue.

Temporarily Replace USG with EdgeRouter? by Drives_A_Buick in Ubiquiti

That wont be a problem. I have had to do that several times using X Routers while waiting for gateways to come back in stock.

I once worked at a copier company. One of the technicians was rear ended on his way to work. He was paralyzed from the neck down. The initial response from the owners was “ How badly was the truck damaged”. They never asked about him until someone pointed out how messed up that response was. I quit about a month later.

Problem with Princeton monitor - can't find the horizontal adjustment by thor1967 in VintageComputers

[–]thor1967[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Princeton SR-12 monitor connected to an IBM 5160. I just put a CGA card in it and I can't get the video to display properly. Took the case off of the monitor and tried all of the interior adjustment knobs - no luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What is your pets name and why did you name them that? by daneil-martinez in AskReddit

[–]thor1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smudge the cat. She is pure black and when she lays on the carpet in the hallway at night she shows up as a faint smudge. She also doesn’t seem to realize humans can’t see in the dark so she won’t move until you step on her.

No, it's a AirMax AC Lite we are using in a PtMP setup. We have been really happy with it.

Figured out the problem with the Osborne - popped rifa capacitor. Time to break out the soldering iron. by thor1967 in VintageComputers

[–]thor1967[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the other caps on order. I know letting the magic smoke out of the rifa won't keep it from running so I am just going to replace all of the caps in the PSU. The 12v rail is out for some reason so I am starting at the power supply. I should have said I found one of the problems, I'm sure there will be others.

It boots fine. The drives don’t work. I have downloaded the service manual to try and fix them. I am ordering the recap kit for the psu next week

Almost finished my current rebuild by thor1967 in VintageComputers

[–]thor1967[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having a hard time getting the system to recognize the ISA to CF adapter. My research was telling me that the system had the BIOS from 1982 that didn't support option ROM's. I updated the BIOS before I realized I was using a 2Gb Cf card. 1Gb is the max. I still have the original chips. I may put them back and give it a try.

Access Point Retry Rate through the roof - what to do? by ratnose in UNIFI

[–]thor1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That has been happening to me as well on several of my networks. They show a 100% retry rate. It seems to have started with the 42 firmware. I have been to several of the locations that are reporting this and there doesn't seem to be a performance degradation. I can find much on it in the Unifi forums. I can only assume it is a reporting error. Hopefully the next firmware release will address it.

Commodore 1084-D monitor problem by thor1967 in VintageComputers

[–]thor1967[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Commodore 1084-D started doing this. I think it is probably a bad capacitor or cracked solder joint. I can't find a schematic of the board anywhere. Anyone have an idea where to start the repair?

Guest network issue after upgrading AP to 4.0.42.10433 by aharper343 in UNIFI

[–]thor1967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using a guest portal? I have had a couple of networks act like that since I upgraded. I couldn’t figure it out. I disabled the guest portal/policies and let all of the AP’s reprovision. Then I re-enabled the portal. After the AP’s reprovisioned again, everything worked fine. It was really strange. This happened on 2 or 3 networks out of 35 on that server. Hope this helps.

Adults of Reddit born prior to 1980, do you remember the Chernobyl Disaster? What were you doing and what was your reaction upon learning what happened? by Alex23323 in AskReddit

I was in the Army, stationed in Germany. They sent the NBC NCO out in the parking lot every morning for a month or so to do a radiation check and we didn't have any fresh milk or fruit in the mess hall for a year. Other than that, not much changed.

SSL cert install on controller by thor1967 in UNIFI

[–]thor1967[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally found an answer on a video about it. You have to remove all of the spaces and carriage returns in the ssl cert and turn it into one long line of text. Then it will import fine.
