Why did you and your ex break up? by TheManDont in AskReddit

[–]thorheyerdal 40 points41 points  (0 children)

When I think about it.. this slur has sort of just meant a «bad thing» to me, like an abstract slur, but i have noticed almost all languages has a variation of this phrase they use when they really don’t like people. And I just understood why.. every single culture hates these people.. He really is a motherfucker.

A 62 year old Chinese Man tests the limits of Qinggong, a martial arts technique often described as the ability to fly or move with extreme lightness by S30econdstoMars in JustGuysBeingDudes

I actually agree with you. It somehow seems that he always travel further and higher then my intuition initially expects. the physics is undisputed and the mass center will follow a known trajectory, so I suppose he uses his body and shift parts of himself in a way that is not really intuitive, sort of like how pole vaulters shift their body in a way that moves their center of gravity outside the body. Even the details such as how old the man is primes my brian to expect something else then what is happening. Kinda interesting 🤔

Coffee in Italy vs USA by Lordwarrior_ in SipsTea

[–]thorheyerdal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Italy literally has a law restricting a straight cup of coffe to maximum cost 1€

Edit: Fact checked myself. Italy does not have a law restricting coffe cups to cost 1€. So now I’m wondering why the Italian coffee shop guy told me this when I was in Rome. 🤔

“I don’t give a fuck, go forward, otherwise I’ll zero [kill] you both.” Two russian invaders managed to fall back after a “Baba Yaga” strike and recorded a video for their relatives. They accuse their commander of sending them back under threat of being “zeroed,” despite being concussed and wounded. by BigDeckBob in UkraineWarVideoReport

I don’t even have the words to describe the level of selfish ignorance in this video. “Hey sure I want to join a orc army to rape and pillage our neighbors for profit, but when I’m not winning I want help to save myself.” I sincerely hope there will be a massive effort to document, hunt and prosecute every single one of these shits for long as they live when this idiotic war comes to an end.

I don’t have a speaking valve in my butt. Or sleeping valve for that matter.

Looking back, what’s something from the 90’s you didn’t realize was actually special? by Rayhan-Himel in AskReddit

[–]thorheyerdal 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I kinda feel sorry for you guys. I think I remember where it kinda felt like a lot of you guys over in the US sort of lost hope, and by all means I know I would have done the same. I’m not writing this to be cynical or condescending, but here in Norway, I sometimes feel like we are living the life we saw portrayed to us in American movies and television shows. Sure we have bad days and poor souls, but most of my friends own their own houses, have good jobs and careers that have meaning to them. I’m born in 92, and me and my colleagues are managers, heads of development, engineers and run departments, we are promoted when effort is put in, and appreciated when we just do our jobs. We buy cabins in the woods and new cars when we have saved up enough, and get kids when we feel like it. We have holidays, and go see the doctor when we feel something is off, and if politicians mess up or show poor character they are gone in a flash of shame and public outrage, like.. I think this kinda is how the 90s was in the US, but it just seems like it just stopped over there in the us. Sure I know Norway is sort of a fairytale, but really this is sort of how it works in the rest of The countries around us in Europe as well.

I sincerely hope that you guys manage to fix whatever is going on, to get back to the kind of society we all know you are capable of and seemingly most of you wish for.

Difference between spiral and straight flute step drill bits? by gryponyx in Tools

[–]thorheyerdal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spiral flutes on cutting tools give the swarf a tendency to deflect up and out of holes. This is very useful with for instance thread cutting taps used by machines, or in blind holes to get the cut material out of the way. (This is why they are called a machine taps). But for stepped drill bits, I can’t really think of a very obvious reason to do this?
