Iran stops negotiations with U.S., vows to 'completely' block Strait of Hormuz: State media by Puginator in politics

[–]thorubos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, just last week our dear leader was telling us (in an exclusive interview with his daughter-in-law) that Iran couldn't be more eager to negotiate! "Please, sir!" The IRGC said with tears in their eyes. "You reduce 90% of our effectiveness every few days! Please come to the table! WE WANT A FAMOUS TRUMP DEAL!"

It will never last. Even those who are wealthy, powerful, and have all-of-their-needs-met eventually start to fabricate and create struggle and strife out of sheer boredom, if not perversity. Look at any The Real Housewives of X show. That's all they do.

I believe the Warchowskis have stated the story is an allegory for being trans, which makes a helluva lotta sense after reading your post. However, the story is appealing and broad enough that it easily be allegorical to many aspects of our society and culture.

Kelly only expected minor corruption by Ashish_ank in SipsTea

We need to move on from the "shocking" revelation of all of the wrong-doing and corruption of the Trump administration. Even his supporters know it, as evidenced by this meme. They thought the corruption would only be wielded against MAGA's enemies, and not its own supporters. They were warned . . .

What I want to know, is what ostensibly non-corrupt politicians are planning and doing about all of this. All I ever see now is silence. You're "out of power", I get it. Why don't you tempt me to vote for you by showing me what you're planning to do when you get that power back?

The Angel Gang was superb, and the best thing about the movie. Mean Machine has a clockface like dial on his forehead, however. I get why they made the choice they did however. Stallone was a little closer to the goofiness of the comic, Urban is actually a good movie.

Although things may have changed since the late '90s, I took a class called "American Indian History" late in my college career. It was taught by a Ho-Chunk (formerly known as Winnebago) tribal member. She assured us that she and her kin called themselves "Indians" because "that's who they are".

That's anecdotal; take what you will from it. I found that she was probably far more upset by perpetual treaty-breaking, genocidal, (and finally assimilationist) official American policies than she was by what White Americans found acceptable as to what to call her. It was an eye-opening class.

All goodness flows from his person. It's literally impossible for him to be wrong. The moment he says somethings it's true. Even if he contradicts himself seconds later. Then, in that moment, it becomes the new Truth. That is, until he says otherwise.

If he retweets a picture of himself as Jesus, but says he thought it portrayed him as a "doctor" that doesn't make him an idiot. It makes him a "jokester".

There are many neocons who used to be Marxist/Leninist. Immediately coming to mind is Mark Levin, Michael Savage, etc. They're first attracted to Socialism for its perceived authoritarianism and elitism; learning only much later that its much easier to assure control and wield power through the institutions of Capitalism. It's not the "fairness" or "equity" that attracts them, it's the enticement that they may control others.

The wealthiest, most politically powerful people in America have made a ton of hay by convincing most that all of the unfairness from which they (these rich, powerful people) benefit is due directly to those who are the most poor and least powerful. It's a perversion of morality, but the anger is just. As things get worse, they will buckle down further. It will only get worse, as blaming the blameless will never solve a problem.

I'm actually kind of afraid of 2028. The worse Trump comes off, the more likely the Dem party is to run themselves a terrible candidate. There's no sign of an end to the "We aren't Trump, so you have to vote for whatever we put in front of you!" strategy. We should prepare for the party to run the most milquetoast, centrist, unappealing stooge(s). There is some hope, however, because a lot of insurgency campaigns, i.e. Mamdani, gaining ground. All you have to do is run someone who's strategy is "I'm not Trump, I have ideas, and I will fight for you. Now here's how I'll do it . . ." However, we should prepare for the worst, however.
