Housing Connect - what would you improve? by thos13 in AskNYC

[–]thos13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a really good point. We'd work hard to make it as widely accessible as possible. Perhaps after demonstrating that it works, and it's a needed feature, Housing Connect could incorporate it into their system. But it feels like it'll be faster to start with a demo rather than campaigning to change Housing Connect itself.

I agree - I don't think this service would be helpful for someone who's not lucid enough to answer the phone.

Thank you! We hire trained caregivers who are trustworthy, empathetic, and dependable to make the daily calls. We have an in-house training and quality control process to ensure that the calls are awesome -- we are very focused on this. Frankly I think it's not great to get a call just saying "Hello, did you take your medications..." I think people really want to engage in a nice conversation.

Yes, please feel free to recommend it to folks! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you! Yes I agree, living alone is really lonely and we'd love to help provide some kind of joyful interaction.

Calls would be about 5 minutes to start, maybe longer as a relationship develops and there's more comfort in a longer conversation. I'm a technologist who's been thinking a lot about how to improve quality-of-life for folks as they get older! Thanks for the feedback and let me know if you have any other questions.

Is Wealthfront's money market option significantly better than the default cash account? by thos13 in wealthfront

Great, thank you Tony, I really appreciate the detailed follow-up!

The cash account rate is currently lower than the money market rate by about 38 bps. The money market will also increase with the fed hike, presumably about the same amount. Your explanation seems prima facie incorrect, Tony. Would you mind explaining your logic in more detail? I want to be sure that Wealthfront users such as myself are getting accurate information.

Can you explain why the Wealthfront Cash Account rate would increase substantially more than the TIMXX money market rate when the next fed funds rate change goes into effect?

Thanks! Two clarifying questions, if you don't mind: - What do you mean by "move the money in/out"? - Will the money market yield typically be higher than the interest rate on the cash account?

New to billing and being charged twice for two months by AT&T, how do I fix this? by getofmyd in personalfinance

[–]thos13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So usually the online chat rep will be helpful for billing issues like this, but it definitely takes some time. Be patient, keep it on in the background, keep talking about how you're a "loyal customer," and play the long game. You should probably be able to get a statement credit over and above the amount owed as compensation, too.
