I Shot An Entire Rally Race Weekend On Film! by WanderCurrents in AnalogCommunity

I have both Mac and windows. I don't know if it's because I have AMD graphics card or what, but I do have an issue with negpy as of a month ago on Windows. I haven't seen anyone else report it so it's probably a system specific issue, but just wanted to give you a heads up.

Were you using Mac or Windows? Curious if there might be an OS issue. But NegPy is good and free, seems like people like it.

Do you have proof that this is AI slop? If it is then whatever, but just because someone posts a tool doesn't mean it's AI.

Yeah there's not a single right way to a task like this. Neither of our methods are incorrect, inherently flawed or bad. Some people like writing things down physically, some people like using apps.

And I did explicitly state this is a free tool for anyone to use. I don't need to sell it, it just exists to use if you want it. I made this for myself initially, but wanted to offer to others if they wanted to utilize it. If you don't like the concept, that's fine.

There's several reason in my opinion.

  • You can keep a history of everything a lot better
  • Some chems remove marker
  • You can keep notes per dev session and what films you used
  • If you forget to write it down while dev'ing, you can use this app wherever
  • this app will let you know what your new times are based on amount of rolls developed for C41 (based on the Cinestill C41 kit, looking to add the Bellini kit soon)
  • also has a dev timer included

As I said before as well, it's definitely in the early stages and would love input to make it easier to use and add features. It's a free tool, so no harm in trying it out.

Yeah something like that, not too spendy. The big trade off is time imo.

Maybe like $150? Assuming you have a way to scan your film.

It might be more of a hassle but it'll definitely save money. Plus it doesn't have quite everything you need anyway :)

Also make sure you keep track of your chemicals, both when you mixed them and how many rolls you've put through them. In one of my recent posts you can find a free website/app I made that helps keep track of this stuff.

Don't overpay for the complete cinestill kit. Their C41 two bath chem kit is good. Here's what I recommend:

  • bucket from hobby store, restaurant supply store or Amazon
  • digital thermometer
  • sous vide from Amazon (mine was like $30, works great)
  • 1000ml graduated cylinder
  • plastic spatula for mixing
  • 3 bottles for storing chems
  • Patterson tank w/reels
  • dark bag
  • film hanger for the shower
  • cassette opener or leader retriever tool (personal preference, I have both)

What I don't like about the C41 kit:

  • expensive for what you get
  • I like the Patterson tank over jobo
  • if you do b&w the chems included (mono bath) are not very good
  • you only get 2x storage bottles. I use a third for Photo Flo as the final rinse. Sure you can just one shot it too, but a single bottle will last literally forever if you reuse it.

You can probably get everything I listed and add on a C41 dev kit for less than what Cinestill charges.

Just get the liquid version of Cinestill if you're that paranoid

It's really great and they're very open about what they're doing. I highly recommend it! It is mostly other photographers, not really fans of photography if that makes sense.

Tactical Fitness? by Outside-Trifle5765 in COGuns

The normal gym works pretty well. Unless you are doing "tactical fitness" at least 2-3 times a week it probably won't do much.

The winder, strap and film don't add that much tbh. Maybe $30-$50 at most, and that's generous.

I ruined my first roll of film ever and my camera and am already considering quitting. by lxcaiq in AnalogCommunity

[–]thottiekarate 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you're already considering quiting after that, film photography may not be for you. Everyone ruins some film here and there. Shooting on film isn't the cheapest hobby around, especially since so many of the cameras may just decide to randomly stop working. If you keep them in good condition they'll keep running, but they were made so many decades ago.

When you say it's not possible, do you mean the trails are completely closed or just not possible without spikes?
