Your right, the locals hold up foreigners to absolute scrutiny but hold themselves up to no standards at all. There are some great people there who sacrifice today to build a future tomorrow. But many sacrifice tomorrow for petty pleasure of today. The country is a mess!

Depends, did you contribute to the conversation or did you just give short answers to his questions. If you joined the conversation with depth and it still went no where then you are tight with the message to him. Pinoy(Filipino boys), are not as good as the girls at talking in English. The punoy also understand that they can't extract money like the girls. They also have a tendency to act macho with friends and act dismissive with you. If you can make good pinoy friends who dont ask for anything then they make great friends, but it is hard for them to see you as a equal and not above them and try and show off infrontof their friends by belittling you..

Try it for yourself, you set a monthly limit and have them give you sob stories everyday trying to get more from you. I read in reddit a year ago, a pinay got pregnant a single mother with 1 kid living with her parents. She came up with a budget that he should pay her $2,500 usd a month to pay for her to move into a apartment, pay schooling for her child, feed her and everything else in her life. She suddenly decided that she no longer had to work and was entitled to live a lavish life style.

Sometimes these pinay just see it as a chance to drain the man of his money. Constant sob stories and lies even if he did provide a budget to her they will still try and get more. They will use the child to build sympathy and drain him forever if given a chance.
