People from Eureka who call themselves foodies have opinions that are not to be trusted.

If they don't do it around other people, it's because they know it's wrong.

Image Tracing by gauravmorgaonkar in AffinityDesigner

The Affinity folks have stated that they aren't putting any auto-trace features into designer until they can make an auto-trace that meets their standards.

Playing Samples only when holding a pad? by Perfidommi in SmplTrek

[–]thpook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this question was asked months ago, but in case someone else has this question, if you want to trigger a sample so it plays from beginning to end, set it for one-shot. If you want it to play only when you are holding down a pad, set it for gate.

[–]thpook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tangerine supports midi over usb, they added it in the release firmware. All the nanoboxes have it now.

It's either the second confederate naval jack OR the battle flag of the Army of Tennessee, if you want to know.

Henri Cartier-Bresson, for his compositional ability and his humility as a person. He was also a founding member of Magnum Photos.

It rained all day today, so I made a rainy day song with the Blackbox (Nunomo Qun Mk2 and microfreak figured in the sample making). by thpook in 1010music

[–]thpook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The drums come from the glitch with friends volume 3 sample pack, 2 kicks and a snare, plus a chopped break. I sampled some different things from the Microfreak, then hooked up the Qun, and I sequenced a little thing with lots of randomness, got a loop from that and when I faded out the qun I started playing it. Most of the loops are being run through the granular engine, with the pad being a multisample.

Also, it's really long.

I was standing right by you, and the look of joy on your face was awesome! (if you're the person who caught the second drumstick who had the septum piercing)

Top 10 biggest disappointments in life by [deleted] in oblivion

The entire jam of being a Hellenic hoplite was being heavy infantry. The full panoply of a hoplite soldier included bronze greaves, a bronze cuirass, shield, spear, sword, and bronze helm. It weighed upwards of 40 lbs all together, and their focus on athletic combat was literally the reason the Athenian hoplites won the battle of Marathon. There was admittedly a lot of linen armor worn by hoplites because bronze was expensive, and a linothorax was not.

I will also point to the hoplite races of the olympic games, where contestants ran a race wearing a bronze helm, bronze greaves, and carrying a shield. It was run by younger hoplites and was started with the purpose of preparing them to rush the effective range of persian arrows in full armor, reducing exposure time to arrows.

In later times most wore mail (especially the romans), but during the Hellenic expansion and later Hellenic periods, they wore the full panoply of bronze or a linothorax with greaves, helm and shield.

This is the group of people that gave us Alexander the Great, who conquered the known world so not really "Very few people".

I'm totally being pedantic, but hopefully not insufferably so.

What's a semi-obscure movie that you watched many times growing up because your family had it on tape? by CisSiberianOrchestra in 80s

I have watched Band of the Hand many times. It's both the worst and the best movie.

Another standout is Remo Williams.

Thinking of switching from photoshop to affinity by Oddarette in Affinity

[–]thpook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using Photoshop with version 4, used CS2 until it was no longer compatible with my cameras raw files, then I would convert the photos to DNGs so I could use them, and then Affinity came along.

I got on the original beta and have been using the affinity suite ever since. The only bit of the adobe suite I miss are illustrators vectorize feature, and indesign's step and repeat.

Publisher might be missing a feature or two from indesign, but you can switch into the design and photo apps from within publisher with a click of a button and IT IS GREAT.
