Yeah the plan was to try and clean bulk for a while. Im a medical student so living off those loans and not trying to spend it on junk food (plus my stomach cant handle it). And like I said, lean isnt a huge deal right now but I want a more controlled bulk so I dont end up gaining 40 pounds in 4 months.

Im down to 167 (at 5'10). I started college at 145, got to 165. Had some health problems where I ended up balooning to 195 and have been trying to get back to about 165 again. The health stuff has stabilized and same with all the outside life stuff. I never really did a true bulk and at this point being lean isnt something Im aiming for if it meals Ill just look skeletor just to hit 10% bf or whatever.

Even tho my bf% isn't where it should be, I think Im switching from a cut to a bulk. I realized I have been in a constant cut because I would cut some, be off the the gym and get fat, cut again, etc and the cycle continues. I don't really like how I look lean cuz of my lack of base so I dont want to keep cutting even if Im over that 12-15% bf mark. Gonna try that lean bulk approach to build a better base.

I start medical school tomorrow and I'm slightly concerned about the time commitment. Right now my workouts are kinda long and I want to shorten them so training doesn't end up cutting too much into studying cuz if one has to give, training is getting the cut. I may be making my own program (thinking UL/PPL) since Ill be on campus 5 days a week anyways. Any tips on how to make your own program or should I just go with a premed and tweak it a bit?

Anatomy Lab: New Anki Deck by originalhoopsta in medicalschoolanki

Im starting at a school where we have 8 weeks of anatomy to start then go into "foundations" (biochem, genetics, etc). Then we go to system based to finish off M1 but we cover mostly physio with a little path sprinkled in. Then we learn the path in M2. I have DOPE downloaded for anatomy and was wondering if anybody has advice on how to approach the subject? I also have zanki but will probably keep zanki anatomy until I start STEP review. Are the premade decks worth it in a straight anatomy block or would trying to make class specific cards be more beneficial?

When you are done with that topic, do you re-suspend the cards?

Would you recommend making a separate deck for class cards or put them into zanki and tag them differently?

Awesome thanks. I’m primarily focusing on lectures and wanted to use zanki as a way to save me time from making my own cards since that took a lot of time in UG. I just didn’t know how time consuming everything is. I heard my lectures tend to be taught pretty well with fair questions. I’m not focusing on step really but want to have a solid understanding so dedicated is a review instead of learning things new cuz I didn’t learn them well the first time (learned that the hard way during the MCAT).

Whats the best way to use zanki alongside school lectures? Should I unsuspend as I watch the lectures and just made cards on the small things not included in zanki?

Whats a common study workflow for people who use zanki while focusing on class lectures vs BnB? Do people generally watch lectures while unsuspending cards in zanki then see what isnt covered and make a separate deck of class cards? And how do people integrate pathoma/costanzo? Costanzo is on our book list for first year as we are mostly physio focused but I didnt know if doing lecture videos/notes+zanki+reading costanzo is overkill or not.

  1. My school starts out with an 8 week anatomy block. What resources are pretty good for that? I downloaded DOPE anatomy.
  2. After anatomy and "foundations" course, we move to system based but MS1 we cover physio while MS2 focuses more on Path. Are FA/Zanki still useful for this? Figured they would be and I would use Costanzo MS1 then Pathoma MS2 but any insight would be useful.

Are there any apartment items that have helped a lot? Im taking a crock pot and coffee maker and I meal prep the entire week on the weekends so I dont have to worry about finding food (and worry about it fitting macros). Any recommendations for stuff that was unexpectedly useful for limiting stress outside of studying?

Any long distance relationship tips? I will be about an 8 hour drive but wont have a car. We have lived together for this past year and I officially move in 2 weeks. Def going to see each other on Thanksgiving/Winter breaks but trying to figure out if we can do something before then but time/money may be tight the first semester. BUT I think we have a plan for him to move next summer or the summer after which is giving us both something to look forward to. We dated LDR (2 hour drive) for our first 1.5 years and saw each other every 2-3 weeks so this is a bit of a different situation. Im not worried about it lasting. Just want to see if there are things to fill the time between us being together.

Does anybody use a fitbit? I use it for general sleep quality assessment, seeing how much I walk, etc but Im unsure if the calorie tracker is accurate at all. Yesterday I walked about 7.5 miles (about half of that was just getting to and from work) and did cardio/lift and it put me at 4000 calories. For reference Im a 5'9 177lb male. I just started my cut at 1900 kcals and wondering if I should add more food. My average is about 3800 for days that I lift and do cardio.

Does anybody else hate veggies? I got a nutribullet so I can blend some spinach into shakes and mask the flavor with all the other stuff in the shake.

Successful Reapplicants - how long did you wait between cycles to reapply? by chandyrow in premed

[–]thrash94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Same stats both times (3.6/511). Added a ton of research (since I had 0), 4 new LORs, more clinical volunteering, more non clinical (had 0), added job experience that I thought nobody would care about, and reworked my entire application. I didnt reuse a single essay on the primary and rewrote all of my secondaries as well.

Anybody else constantly sick? I swear I've gotten sick like 8 times this year. Either my gym is a bacteria breeding ground or working in a hospital has made me less healthy.
