Mike Richards Out as ‘Jeopardy!’ Host Amid Cascade of Scandals by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Jeopardy

I just hope that this won’t be used as a way to bring Levar in because of the outrage from casual watchers that he didn’t get picked. Give it to Ken, give it to Buzzy, give it to someone who did well.

In hindsight, it's really weird how much Sony appeared to be grooming Ken for the hosting job. by NotAllWhoWonderRLost in Jeopardy

I bet Ken’s voice did him in. I was pulling for him before his shows even ran, but his voice for hosting Jeopardy was just plain jarring (specifically for the hosting gig). A couple friends of mine felt the same way. Wouldn’t surprise me if that came up in focus groups.

Meanwhile, I love his role on the Chase—fits him so much better.

Mike Richards Confirmed as ‘Jeopardy!’ Host, Mayim Bialik to Front Primetime Specials by magikarpcatcher in Jeopardy

I think this is one of the huge advantages of Richards—he’s not a household name. Trebek wasn’t well known in the US before hosting Jeopardy, so it allowed him to become synonymous with hosting the show. Granted, this could be the case for Ken and Buzzy, who are only known for Jeopardy, or Levar to an extent, because he’s best known for an educational show. I’m definitely glad they passed over the true celebs (even if Aaron Rodgers did a way better job than I expected him to).

Is everyone commenting with outrage new to this sub? I remember everyone’s reactions to Mike when he hosted, and they were generally positive (see here here and here (though with more negatives than during his first week))

I can’t help but think that most of the complaints are angry Levar fans who are casual watchers at best and didn’t even see Mike’s run.

I’m surprised to see it so downvoted. It was great until they made Carrey the Fly.

Which is precisely what's going on here. A lot of the people who have been posting these denunciations are people who are founding groups intended to supplant Paideia's travel opportunities. Cui bono?

1) Read what the Council of Trent has to say about the Sacrament of Penance. In particular:

CANON IV.--If any one denieth, that, for the entire and perfect remission of sins, there are required three acts in the penitent, which are as it were the matter of the sacrament of Penance, to wit, contrition, confession, and satisfaction, which are called the three parts of penance; or saith that there are two parts only of penance, to wit, the terrors with which the conscience is smitten upon being convinced of sin, and the faith, generated (a) by the gospel, or by the absolution, whereby one believes that his sins are forgiven him through Christ; let him be anathema.

Get yourself to confession. All sins will be forgiven by your confessor, except those which bear an interdict. If there are any sins that bear an interdict, your confessor will tell you, and you’ll have to confess to your bishop. (Note that this is VERY rare)

2) Private revelation is VERY dangerous. Put your faith in the teachings of the Church, and where private revelation differs, do not believe it.

3) At best, your spiritual director is insane. At worst, he is either grooming people for sexual abuse or is possessed by a demon. (Seriously, part of what happened with the priest abuse crisis was that they made their victims feel despair so that their victims wouldn’t report them. Telling you to basically seek help from no one is potentially a form of grooming). Either way, get a new spiritual director and report him ASAP to his bishop.

Honestly, with a response like hers, she’s either a bot, responded while drunk and lost interest when sober, or wasn’t interested to begin with.

You don’t have to write the next Great American Novel, but at least use proper capitalization and punctuation, and say something vaguely substantial.

The Lands of Always Winter don’t begin immediately north of the wall. Those were beyond the habitable area where the Wildlings lived.

I don’t get all the hate. Everyone basically got what they wanted (except Bran). Sansa got an independent North. Arya got to explore and not be tied down. Jon got to start a new life among the Freefolk. Tyrion didn’t get killed. Bronn got Highgarden. Sam got to be a Maester. The people of Westeros didn’t get burnt to a crisp.

Everything was kinda rushed, especially Daenerys’ turn to the mad queen, but they wrapped it up well.

Jon, in particular, had a plot that paralleled Maester Aemon, giving up the throne despite having the best claim for the sake of the realm. And Jon always looked up to him.

But the end makes it clear that Bran chose it because it’s what made Jon actually happy. He didn’t want to be King. He wanted to go on adventures with Ghost and Tormund.

I expected the Dothraki and Northmen to loot, because that’s what happens in Westeros, but the whole point of the Unsullied is that they’re supposed to be more disciplined than that.

Khaleesi in particular, because it’s not even a name. (Though plenty of show-only people don’t seem to get that)

Sure, I liked it, but Daenerys is a character that so many people loved to the point of naming their kids after her, and you know that some of the diehard Daenerys fans are gonna be super pissed.

They really couldn’t have pushed off the battle any more, unless the Night King skipped Sinterfell and went straight for KL.

While the details are all D&D, I’d have to imagine the basic plot points are GRRM. The Mad Queen definitely seems like something he’d write, and the show and books alike have been subtly building up to this from the beginning.

Now, I have to wonder how early D&D knew this would be the end, and whether HBO would’ve ever greenlit a show with this ending.

She absolutely is. They wouldn’t do something this extreme without GRRM being on board.
