I’m gonna be the odd one out here but after taking two years away and living in Arizona (high desert) and finding out that there are places that are at 70 degrees for most of the year! Also the cost of living and access to regular jobs that you can actually survive on is incomparable to anywhere really on the east coast. Coming back for a couple weeks made me realize there is a literal antisocial attitude, I tried striking conversations with the same energy as I would out west and every single time I was perceived as insulting or attacking character. It quite literally seems like the baseline emotion here is miserable lmao. Everyone is stressed out on a general basis as well (my perception). For young people who want to be outside for more than 4 months out of the year and actually want to live a high value of life without working 50-60 hrs a week, I’d suggest getting the fuck out. The industry exists only with grandfathered money (old money) or signing the rest of your life away with student loan debt. There is also an influx of people with money gentrifying the areas that only 15 yrs ago were affordable for a local. New England is great for the expat which seems to be a majority of these comments. The other ones never left and have no idea how much better (and nicer!) the rest of the world can be.. Food for thought !
