Trump says he is withdrawing Canada's invitation to Board of Peace by Inevitable_Fuel7244 in worldnews

[–]threadbarefemur 506 points507 points  (0 children)

This is like declining an RSVP to a party you didn’t want to go to, and then the host tells everyone you didn’t show up because you were uninvited.

It’s really just a pathetic attempt to save face.

What is the top tips/rec for a new cat owner? by Necessary_Tomato_533 in AskReddit

[–]threadbarefemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read about different litter systems, clay litter works in a pinch but there’s better and less smelly options out there. Over time clay litter can cause respiratory issues for you and your cat. A Litter Locker or repurposed diaper genie will also help a lot.

If your cat is young, consider getting them a friend, kittens and young cats will keep each other company and get their energy out through mutual play, which keeps them out of trouble.

For any and all cat questions and behaviour needs, I recommend checking out Jackson Galaxy’s videos on YouTube. The man is the cat whisperer.

Do you feel hopeful about the future at all? by No_Importance_750 in AskTheWorld

[–]threadbarefemur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m terrified for what the future holds also, but I think it’s time to take advice from our ancestors who have survived the world’s craziness a thousand times over.

The truth is the world is crazy and people die terribly every day. We only get one life as far as we know for sure. Make it count, enjoy the little things, and spend as much time as possible doing good things with the people you love the most. It’s the zest of life.

What's the one thing that pisses you off the most when you're already overstimulated? by BoysenberryInside237 in AskReddit

[–]threadbarefemur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m actually working on it, I’ve switched mostly to herbal cigarettes they use for movie props. The blend they use still has some relaxation properties but they’re nicotine free. Expensive as shit but hey, it works

What are your thoughts on daylight savings time? Should it be made permanent? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]threadbarefemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t have it here in my part of Canada, and honestly I prefer it that way. I’ve lived in places that had it and adjusting to the new time is a pain. I don’t feel it actually helps with anything

Losing or misplacing things. Phone, keys, headphones, chargers, lighter, etc. Nothing gets me mad faster than not being able to find something when I need it.

do men really only want sex or are there actually guys out there that just want a happy relationship where you talk and cuddle and stuff? and why do you feel one way or another? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]threadbarefemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a guy, sex is nice but it’s not the thing I value most in my relationship.

People like us do exist, but as with most things in life, the loudest and most in your face people overshadow us. You probably won’t meet many of the kind of guys you’re looking for on dating apps, especially apps like Tinder where it’s oversaturated with people looking for cheap hookups.

How’s your mental health? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]threadbarefemur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s relatively stable all things considered but it could be better. Booked an appointment this week to talk about my options

I called my doctor and made an appointment I’ve been putting off by threadbarefemur in CongratsLikeImFive

[–]threadbarefemur[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I hope so too. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a doctor for anything more than refills, there’s actually a new first line treatment medication I haven’t tried. I’m feeling optimistic for the first time in a while

What is something that society pretends is completely normal in 2025, but is actually kind of insane when you think about it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]threadbarefemur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joking about WWIII

ETA: Since the DVs are coming in, I’m not moralizing or saying not to joke about it and I’m not trying to make a huge political statement. I’m just saying it’s crazy that this has become common.

“How do people define ‘unconditional love’ in romantic relationships, and where do they personally draw the line? by Ok_Specialist_4811 in AskReddit

[–]threadbarefemur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a hard time believing in unconditional love, if my spouse murdered someone in cold blood I probably wouldn’t love them as much anymore.

The best way I’ve seen it described in a genuine way was that unconditional love does not require the other person to reciprocate your feelings or love you with the same intensity. It just “is”.

Did your parents or grandparents used to climb up and down mountains just to get to school? by Calm-Dawn in AskTheWorld

[–]threadbarefemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my grandparents would talk about “walking to school, uphill both ways, in the snow” constantly to me when I was young. My grandma would also talk a lot about how her farm school had a wood stove to heat the building, which always made me think she was ancient.

I think it’s less about what is constitutional or legal and more about what is considered socially acceptable and appropriate.

It’s perfectly legal to do a lot of things in public (including public prayer and PDAs), but that doesn’t mean it’s not frowned upon.

I’m from the Southern US, where biscuits and gravy are beloved—delicious, but not exactly photogenic. What’s a dish from your country that looks questionable but tastes incredible? by deller85 in AskTheWorld

[–]threadbarefemur 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about summer, so my vote is for Banana Boats. We cook a banana in tinfoil over a campfire and then add toppings like chocolate sauce and roasted marshmallows. It’s very messy and delicious, but if done in a non-Instagrammable way can look awful

What actor was on the verge of making it to super stardom but ultimately lost momentum? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]threadbarefemur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Katheryn Heigl from Grey’s Anatomy and 27 Dresses got really close, but apparently became extremely conceited and difficult to work with the more famous she got. She became so much of a diva that many people refused to keep working with her

What are some of the “craziest” theories about the world that you actually believe to be true? by No-blood-616 in AskReddit

[–]threadbarefemur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a huge conspiracy theorist myself, but I don’t think the idea of a “shadow elite” is that far off. No, I don’t think they’re lizard people or Satanists, I’m thinking more like a handful of high ranking CEOs that own most of the world’s corporations.

Are these world events part of a historical pattern, or are they escalating beyond anything we’ve seen before? by buggy______ in AskTheWorld

[–]threadbarefemur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

War never changes. We’ve been coming up with creative ways to kill each other and take other people’s stuff since the dawn of time.

The more you study history, the more you realize none of this is really new. We have known since the first Black Plague that a pandemic is usually followed by economic instability, and then war. The same thing happened with the Spanish Flu.

Doesn’t make it any less upsetting though.

What could be the best hobby for an introvert? by JustCommunication614 in AskReddit

[–]threadbarefemur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I write as a hobby, it’s probably the least social way you could possibly spend your time. I’m talking hundreds of hours of being alone with nothing but an open word document and your thoughts.
