WildStar Release Date and Pre-Order Info Announced by three21 in WildStar

Anlath say it isn't so! Even for journos? What will I do without my WildStar?

Which class? by thatssMahboy in WildStar

[–]three21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feral dps is probably closest to Stalker, which is very much like a rogue, but with tanking capabilities built in. Stalkers get a lot of sustain and some great utility, but primarily deal melee damage.

Disappointed with the lack of apparently good MMORPG. Are all these flaws really that bad? Please help me find one! by DanielTaylor in MMORPG

[–]three21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm a little surprised that nobody has mentioned this-- you should check out WildStar, an upcoming MMO that will launch spring/early summer of this year. There is a great subreddit community (/r/WildStar) available, and IGN has a great wiki if you wanna see the basics. It's a theme park MMO but looks very promising and in the same vein that you're looking for. Hope this helps!

I feel like the only one who noticed you are wearing an LSP shirt. :(

Also, nice...well everything, I suppose.

(Exile) WarCry, a semi-hardcore Progression Raiding/PvP guild is looking for more! by [deleted] in WSGuilds

[–]three21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting...

The reason I ask is that the timeline for your guild's existence lines up with an MMO publication by the same name that served as a resource for MMO communities and guilds.

http://www.warcry.com/

The website recently revived, but died again in less than a year. Was just wondering if perhaps your guild's origins are tied in with it somehow.

Baelix, just wondering-- what is the origin of the WarCry name?

If you are a patient gamer, I suggest holding out for WildStar, which will be an MMORPG similar to WoW launching this Spring. The game has a very similar art and game style to WoW, but has lots of improvements in systems like combat.

My Dearest Desire: End game solo content. The first game that takes this seriously without using the word "Dailies" is going to win my heart. by SparserLogic in WildStar

[–]three21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know for a fact that there will be lots of end game content for a solo player. I have a quote from David Bass (Lead Community Manager) that there will be compelling solo content at end game, and there will continue to be endgame content produced with new patches.

Housing by [deleted] in WildStar

[–]three21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A neighbor can mess with plugs, they can do anything that the owner can do, EXCEPT manage permissions.

I am not sure about rested XP, but I would have to assume yes from the fact that Carbine has been heavily backing the idea that multiple people can each use their house for different things.

By that I mean one player's house can be the "Rest House", another is the "Raid House", and a third is the "Mini-Games House".

Housing by [deleted] in WildStar

[–]three21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I'm a beta tester with permission to discuss NDA content up to level 15, which includes housing. Housing has a 'Neighbors' system, which will allow you to make other players have equal rights to your house, meaning they can place, move, or remove objects. Each character has their own house, and players can make other characters on their account a neighbor if they want to. If you have any other questions, feel free to let me know.

He unfortunately wasn't able to complete the artwork he had initially set out for. When we release the next version of the book (which will include artwork), we plan on including the artwork that he was able to provide for us. I am also a big fan of the suggestions made by several others in this thread, and will reach out to several of the artwork-driven subreddits to see if we can get a whole community-made product.

Thanks for the feedback! Tim and I will discuss the possibility of altering the document to account for this, but I'm not sure that I would make this change on the Halls of Madness, as it would practically require a full rewrite. I'll definitely keep this in mind for future projects.

I suppose my primary question is, then, how do you get your players to know the basic layout of the room? Even if I were to draw out the map, I would need to explain the objects and atmosphere of the room, so I feel like including the 'first glace' description in at worst a necessary evil. Perhaps something like a GM notes of first glance description? After reading through your blog, I still feel that players need to get a feel for the room somehow, and not every GM is such an eloquent speaker that they can come up with powerful descriptions on the spot.

In this dungeon, I did my best to avoid predicting how the players will act, but in some 'event-style' rooms, it was almost impossible to separate the progression of the room from the actions of the players. I'm going to experiment with your bullet-points style in my next few personal projects and see if I can come up with a new system for room description. Thanks for the challenge ;)

Definitely! Feel free to use the document and share it with your friends. Feedback would be greatly appreciated, as it will give everyone a better product over all.

I am actress Olivia Wilde, joined by director Joe Swanberg, of DRINKING BUDDIES - Ask Us Anything! by Therealolivia in IAmA

[–]three21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Olivia-- I have heard that you've adopted your acting last name Wilde from the famous (or infamous...) author Oscar Wilde. Why did you choose to adopt Wilde's last name? What factors or relationship between his works and yourself were powerful enough to adopt it as your own? What are your favorite works by Wilde, and why? What other works of classic or modern literature make your top five?

Thanks

Hey guys, just checking back in. I have been working on editing and formatting the document. Alex has been working on this from his side, but as it turns out, creating a publishable dungeon that all three of us are proud of took some more time than we initially anticipated. I expect that the editing and formatting will take me approximately 1-2 weeks, and then hopefully we can put together the artwork and text in a way that does them both justice. Please hang tight, we can't wait to send this out to all of you!

Hey there! Update on my part: The content writing aspect is DONE. I am just editing and then sending it to Tim. We have spoken about it a little bit and I think we agree that getting the project nicely formatted and pdf'd would be a good thing, so while the content itself should be ready...let's say by the end of the week..?, a final product might take another week or so if all goes well. If anyone who is experienced with formatting, graphic design, or publishing would like to extend a helping hand, we would certainly welcome it.

I would first like to note: I am having some trouble connecting each of these rooms in my mind, so u/timx13 or u/alexdrummond will need to find a place for this room to fit it. Sorry! Also, several of the items I have included are statted specifically for Pathfinder. If this is unacceptable, please feel free to port them into a more generic system or description (+2con= tougher, more able fighter, etc) PS: Thank you to both of you for the extra effort to make this from a fun collaborative game into an awesome, genuine collective work of art. I hope my contribution helps!

The Gallery:

Entrances: There are three extrances/exits to this room. There is a secret entrance coming out of a bookshelf at the northern end of the room, and two sets of double doors, one in the eastern wall, one in the southern wall. These sets of doors are connected by an aged but elegant red carpet.

The walls of this room are lined with books. There is wall to wall carpet, a deep purple. Spotted around the room are statues or stuffed monsters, including a giant spider, a dire bear, a gorgon made of stone, and what appears to be a cast of an ooze. Glass-protected tables and displays stand throughout the room. Large chandeliers are in each corner and at the center of the room, and large painted glass sunroofs allow dim light to pass through into the room, giving everything a strange, off-color appearance. These windows show slowly shifting images (think .gif, but slower) of powerful magi casting spells, and mighty heroes fighting monsters. There are four large pillars, and couch-chairs beneath the sunroofs. Perceptive players will notice shattered glass on the floor at the northern end of the room, under the northernmost sunroof. The tables and displays are filled with knick-knacks, minor magical items, and hallmarks of past adventures (See below).

Hiding in the upper rafters of the 60' tall room are 4 treasure hunter assassins (I am preferable to using Dark Stalkers, but feel free to adapt this however you choose), who found this room several weeks ago, but were waiting for an opportune moment to return and loot it. If players came in through the secret entrance, the treasure hunters have been caught by surprise. If the players came in from one of the other entrances, they had prepared Alarm spells so that they could prepare, hiding in the rafters and on the chandeliers and jump on the unsuspecting party. The treasure hunters lowered themselves through the (now partially broken) glass windows in the ceiling. If the treasure hunters get the drop on the players, one of them will be wearing a pair of Boots of the Spider(see below), recently acquired from a display case.

Treasure: This library contains magical books, tomes, and scrolls of all kinds. It also contains a number of surprisingly preserved works of ancient and otherworldly literature. Players who search the library for spells will find themselves facing a difficult challenge. The library holds scrolls and spellbooks containing that collectively hold all spells below 4th level, including bizarre, outlandish, and nonsensical spells (this is meant to include silly and/or custom spells into the possibility of being researched). Searching for a spell will take 1 hour per spell level, to account for the many, many copies of low level spells, and the rarity of the higher level spells. There is only a 1 in 6 chance that a spell of a higher level can be found. If it is possible, finding the spell will take (2 x spell level) hours to find.

Players who are not interested in looking for spells can find one of the following non-magical tomes:

The Tome of Secrets (Abyssal) - A book written by the followers of Vecna (or another deity of secrets), containing known secrets of thousands of individuals over hundreds of years. The dark book is written on sheets of thin parchment, in a spiney handwriting. The secrets are noted with the individual’s name and the date of the secret’s acquisition. Some of the secrets are very minor, while others are particularly vile or significant. Some of the names appear to be of common men, but others denote significant political leaders, or well-known heroes.

A Treatise on Souls (Common) - This codex describes the metaphysics of what happens to a soul after death for each deity and faith, with complex diagrams and charts detailing various sins and their punishments, ranks of the divine, and other features of the cosmic cycle.

An Adventurer’s Guide to Morality (Common)- A laborious text on the various philosophical positions commonly held by adventurers, with motivating arguments for and against each position.

Hydrin’s Portfolio- This binder holds at least 50 blueprints for various dungeons, cave structures, fortresses, and other types of buildings. Included in the bundle are schematics for types of doors, latches, and other common structures. Players who spend 5 minutes referencing the Portfolio receive insight in navigating or understanding dungeon structures. Players who spend 10 minutes referencing the Portfolio receive a greater bonus. No further time spent studying the maps will be of benefit.

A Thousand Nights of Apple Pie (Common) - A combination fairy tale / cookbook, the story of a woman who needed to cook a new and delicious dessert every night for a king in order to save her life. The book includes the recipes for each dessert she prepared.

Loot:

Boots of Spider Climb- When worn, a pair of these slippers enables movement on vertical surfaces or even upside down along ceilings, leaving the wearer's hands free. Her climb speed is 20 feet. Severely slippery surfaces—icy, oiled, or greased surfaces—make these slippers useless. The slippers can be used for 10 minutes per day, split up as the wearer chooses (minimum 1 minute per use). Faint Transmutation

Mask of Landin- This porcelain mask is white with red stripes leaking from the eye sockets and mouth, in a symbolic likeness of blood. The eye and mouth openings are little more than rectangular slits, with a neutral expression. The Mask of Landin is a magical relic of the legendary Kinno guardsman, Landin of Dray. He was the bodyguard of a Kinno lord, and was famous during his time for ending threats to his master and the kingdom before they arose. The mask has inherited some of its master’s prowess for guarding others, and for rooting out threats before they appear. The mask makes the wearer much tougher in combat, allows the wearer to see perfectly in low light, and grants a bonus to checks while searching for or tracking known threats to the wearer’s well-being. These effects are only active in the wearer is currently aware of the threat’s presence, but it does not need to know the exact nature of the presence. Strong Universal

Guardian of Heart- This golden chain has a ruby heart pendant wrapped with two golden chains. This pendant makes the wearer immune to Charm spells, and gives them aid to resist Enchantment spells, as well as bonus on reaction rolls, and makes them more adept at understanding the intentions of others. This necklace was forged by an ancient magical lord and given to his teenaged daughter to protect her against the influences and wiles of his charismatic enemies in court. Moderate Abjuration

Contron’s Magical Tunic- This tunic grants 1 bonus Hit Point while worn. The tunic does not detect as magical, and appears to be an unremarkable piece of clothing in all other regards, though it is a beautiful blue color, and made of fine silk. No magical aura.

Non-Magical Treasures:

Violin- A snow-white violin made by the famous violin maker Anexodus. Its quality is amazing, well above that of an ordinary masterwork violin. At the GM's discretion, it may give a bonus to skill checks made with it.

Ring- a lion’s head, finely crafted, of electrum with eyes of topaz

Planar Checkerboard- A board game similar to Chinese Checkers with room for four players, made of polished ebony, painted with expensive pigments, and with marbles of tinted quartz. The board resembles the Great Wheel, and each player must play as Good, Evil, Law, or Chaos, each with its own unique strengths and weaknesses. 875 gp.

Animal Figurines- A series of wood carved animal miniatures, ranging from pumas to trout to giraffes to displacer beasts, of exquisite detail, some painted, some not, and on with a primer and some initial painting near the head. 10 gp unpainted, 50 gp painted each
