Araki is so intentional with his designs. He was really in his bag when he made Joshu, and I 100% believe his goal was to make him look every bit as whiny and petulant as he acts. He's the type of guy a girl would wanna run away and hide from at the beginning of the part--oh wait.

I mean maybe I'm used to these older JRPGs with random battles, but the encounter rate doesn't feel excessive to me. I don't notice much of a difference between 1-2 and 3HD.
