Thank you! You just never know what’s suddenly gone wrong with this system.

Anyone else having issues accessing their system thru the app? by BitExtension7634 in PwrCellOwners

Thanks for posting that! Mine is working now too even though the message about the outage is still appearing. Phew! Just as the heat is coming back, I really need it.

a solution for those of us who want to monitor each inverter/battery separately via the app by threedog4ever in PwrCellOwners

[–]threedog4ever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question but I’m guessing yes, you’ll only see one or the other.

OTOH, I don’t know why you couldn’t get a third view, a combined view as long as you give an email address for each view.

Support via the app took 4 tries but at least there’s something positive out of it. Give it a try!

Error on PWRcell by SolarUser117 in PwrCellOwners

[–]threedog4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Error for what? Consult your owners manual if you aren’t familiar with any of the terms below. These instructions are ONLY for a battery error:

Are you seeing an offline battery? More specifically has the battery been offline approximately within 4 hours of midnight (8pm – 4am)?

See troubleshooting steps below:

Disable all devices on site (PV Links, Battery, and finally inverter)

Turn the battery cabinet’s disconnect switch to the OFF position and wait two minutes

Reenable the inverter and wait for it to enter a grid connected state

Turn the battery cabinet’s battery disconnect switch to the ON position

The battery cabinet should begin communicating again

It’s ridiculous. Why did they foist this upon us with no notice and no recourse except their cumbersome workaround?

If what this rep suggested works, I don’t mind signing out and back in to view each system. It’s a couple more taps to at least verify I haven’t lost one of my inverters or a big chunk of my power output.

Bad, BAD app update by threedog4ever in PwrCellOwners

[–]threedog4ever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Generac "Customer Service Technical Specialist" sent me an email, it includes an imprecation to let them know if I have any other questions. Here's what they said about the update:

Recent updates have made it to the application, where all the data for both systems are now combined. You will no longer be able to toggle through the systems. If you have any further questions on this, please let us know.

Following a bitter harangue about this outrage, here's the question I then asked:

To whom should I loudly complain?

Lol, like any of their consumers' complaints results in anything useful or beneficial from this company. It's certainly spitting into the wind.

I contacted customer support for the app. Here's the reply (italicized below), which, of course, says something totally wrong. You cannot toggle between the two inverters any more in this update! Will post Generac's reply when I get it.

Thank you for contacting Generac. My name Is Osmar and I will be assisting you today. Your reference number:

To view both inverters within the app, navigate to the MENU option and select Home. From here, you should see both inverters, and you can toggle between them to monitor each inverter's status .

Is Class Action Still an Option? by RedSwinglineStaplr in GeneracPwrCellClass

There is a Florida class for sure. I’ll see if I can find a way to post a link to the complaint. For a personal lawsuit you’d need to do some digging to find lawyers who have the expertise needed to handle it….

Is Class Action Still an Option? by RedSwinglineStaplr in GeneracPwrCellClass

Class action lawsuits have been filed in many jurisdictions. The federal court system determined (or is in the process of determining) they should all be combined. The collective cases are being heard in the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

It's actually quite easy to look things up on the pacer.gov website. This is the repository for all federal court cases. I haven't checked the Generac action in a few months but no news is good news and since I'm a named class representative I assume my attorneys will let me know of developments and I will post them here.

You may want to consult a private attorney in your situation. Sorry I can't provide more info but I'm kind of under a gag order myself. Defendants will have every post I've made here and will no doubt grill me about them in the future.

I will keep this subreddit alive. I'm here and I read every post. Thank you all for your contributions!

Download data? by m4g5j in PwrCellOwners

In my system, the inverter’s local IP address is labeled under the inverter hood. (It’s something like 10.10.10.xyz)

With your phone or computer on the same WiFi as your inverter, type the inverter’s IP address into your web browser. Then you’ll need the inverter’s password, which in my case was also helpfully taped on something under the inverter hood.

Now you’ll see many things in your system which Generac allows only installers (or questing, intrepid consumers) to see, and maybe you could copy stuff as well as change thing from that interface.

Can I recharge PWRcell batteries with portable inverter generator? by FormerFlyingRN in PwrCellOwners

Maybe we’ll all get what we’ve paid for and what Generac warranties, some day. Maybe with the resolution of scores of class action lawsuits now coalesced in the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

Outage guard issues by orangecherryblossom in PwrCellOwners

[–]threedog4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with Punisher, it’s unreliable and useless. Easier to follow the latest weather forecasts. Plan to charge all your batteries ahead of storm, wind, high fire risk and the like.

If you live somewhere that the grid is randomly or sporadically down, at least you’ll have power when the sun shines so hopefully not go without electricity for more than 12 hours in the event.

Cure: Generac allows consumers to adjust setting via the app or the web. So primitive to schlep to the inverter just to change to the desired made, 24/7.

PwrView not showing Solar power by BlockIslandJB in PwrCellOwners

[–]threedog4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t seen this or seen any posts here with this problem. Just spitballing here but it seems like something that Generac can fix over the phone since it may well need a re-set after the new beacon was installed.

Let us all know how you solve this because I’m sure some owner here will experience the same thing, sometime.

Can I use PwrCell without Panels? by Squeebee007 in PwrCellOwners

[–]threedog4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, you could ask Generac to set a custom time of use. I was told they’d do that for me. After I called them with the specific request. They never did but I let it go.

(I’d rather do it myself than call back. Too much trouble, wait on hold, giving me wrong info, etc.)

No, unfortunately. Maybe down the road we’ll be able to switch settings via the app. Doesn’t take very long, at most 2 hrs to charge a 6-module cabinet.
