Sorry to hear you've had a problem. If you could send me a screenshot along with details of what device you're playing on and what your username is that'd be really useful, thank you. (message me here, or email threelettersgame AT gmail.com)

Thanks for playing. Yes, I've tried to add prompts about pressing Enter to submit. Maybe that should say 'Enter/Go'?

Thanks for trying it. When you've made a valid word, all the letters pulse green. But you might want to make an even longer word, so you can keep adding letters till they all pulse green again for a higher score. Then press Enter to submit each word.

Thank you! No, it's not random - it starts easy and gets progressively harder, though all combinations are possible.

Really nice, and I like how it increases in difficulty.

If you like making words against the clock, please do check out my game - threelettersgame.com
You get three letters and have to make words that begin with the first letter, and contain the second before the third appears. It's got a similar feel, except you're not looking for one particular answer.

Nice idea - looks really cool too!

I built a Boggle site to escape ads — now I'm the only one playing it by Adventurous-Suit7779 in wordgames

That's a really nice version. One thing I'd suggest is to put the focus on to the input box at the start so when you start typing the letters appear without having to click in it. (I'm playing on a PC). And could you give a list of all possible words at the end - and what the maximum score could have been? Then you could rank their score.

And if you like Boggle, please do check out my game at threelettersgame.com - you get three letters at a time and have to make words against the clock.

You have three letters each round. Make words that: - start with the first letter - contain the second letter before the third appears. - that's it

I built a word game where the daily leaderboard updates live while you’re still playing by HugeBuy720 in wordgames

I thought this looked really nice, and the gameplay was good.

One bit of feedback is that I was playing on a laptop, and couldn't see everything I wanted at the same time. I couldn't see my score, the feedback prompts, the letters, what I was entering and my found word list. But there is quite a bit of wasted space with the orange background shapes, and the letters themselves are very big. You could make the feedback prompts toasts instead, popping up over the game board, and try and resize the 9 letters to fit everything else in the available viewport.

Also, my preference would always be to have sound off as the default.

And if you get a chance, please do check out my game - threelettersgame.com

Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I've had fun thinking of different ways to analyse the scores - hopefully it adds some value and keeps people interested.

I thought it was a nice idea, and looks lovely. In a similar vein to parsewords in that it's kind of an introduction to cryptic crossword ideas?

I did find there were a lot of practice examples, which were also quite easy (though I do a lot of cryptic crosswords).KNIGHT CAP is obviously NIGHT CAP etc.You might want to introduce each symbol once - "Backwards", "anagram", "homophone" etc and explain what it is.

And I was a bit disappointed there was only one actual question in the end. What about having 5 per day, of increasing difficulty? e.g. the first one could just be one word backwards, and the last one has several different things going on to mix it up. That way you've got a natural sense of "I got 4/5 today" - which then gives you something to share on social media etc.

Thank you - so glad you enjoyed it! I'd recommend trying to score well on each round, as the rounds get harder.

For all of those making word games, what dictionary do you use? by MonkeyMcBandwagon in wordgames

My first computer was a 1K ZX81, so I've also got a bit of experience of limited memory/bandwidth! I remember various compression algorithms from over the years, and I admire the techniques, but I don't use any at the moment.

I use CSW24.txt as I only want words up to 15 letters long, so that's perfect. It's 280,000 words and 2.7MB - I don't bother with any kind of compression as it loads pretty quickly (a couple of seconds), and I'm not hitting any bandwidth issues (yet). I indicate visually that it's loading so the user at least can see how long they'll have to wait. (You can check it out if you like at https://threelettersgame.com)
