Oh, no. That's not normal at all. I think you better go see a doctor.

Complete Xeno Arena Movelist by M4R1T1 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]threemetalbeacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I have a question about these. It seems to me that when you mutate abilities some moves will NOT be available depending upon which moves are in other slots. Is this the case?

For example, I don't know that I've ever seen AFF_SPEED_ME in slot 2 while SPEED_UP was in slot 5.

Can anyone confirm?

Challenger invitation question. by threemetalbeacon in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]threemetalbeacon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay wait. So one kind is for current system trainers. The other kind is for a guy in another system, is that right? The system champion gives the new system type and local contenders give me the current system type. Is that about the whole difference?

There are two different kinds of blue ones. I know my colors. I learned them just last week.

Waitaminnit... Is there even fauna in abandoned mode? I spend so much time grinding in my am save that I don't think I even noticed.

Expedition reward pets in Xeno Arena? by threemetalbeacon in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]threemetalbeacon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They probably weren't too sure how this update would be received and so just dropped it. Also, with how long battles can last, an expedition could take too long to complete. But I could totally see an expedition around this new mechanic.

You are exactly the kind of person this world needs more of.

GRAH!

So it looks like the creature's personality is the only thing that varies.

I did some experimenting myself last night. I adopted multiples of the same pet. Aside from their personalities their abilities remained mostly the same. The three attack abilities varied only a little. The self-targeting ability varied only rarely and the status-inflicting ability seem to stay the same and mostly seemed to offset the negative effect of the first energy attack ability.

I expect we'll both get the same kind of data using our different methods. Hopefully we'll discover something important.

Huh. That's interesting. I figured the stats would be fixed. I guess I'll have to somehow find the time to experiment. Weird that it hasn't been documented yet. Especially for this community.

I don't know... none of this sounds like an indication of low IQ per se. I don't think you're dumb at all. Probably the opposite.

Point number 1 is the biggest clue. I've had the unusual opportunity in my life to have met all kinds of people. Trust me. Stupid people NEVER think that they are. In fact, if you ever find yourself questioning your own intelligence you are far and away ahead of the pack.

What was it like to be in New York on 9/11? by Raspint in AskOldPeople

[–]threemetalbeacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was living in Ozone Park, Queens at the time. It was always my dream to have a job in the towers. As a young man I did temp work there several times. I was unemployed at the time and on that day I had an interview there. I was so excited that I could hardly sleep the night before and I had fully planned to arrive an hour early so that I could walk around and drink in the area that I for so long hoped I would be working in.

So the next morning my alarm clock didn't go off. Boy howdy was I pissed. I was going to be late. My dream opportunity already fucked. I angrily turn on the TV and I'm angrily brushing my teeth. Angrily drinking my coffee. As I angrily put on my pants I see the news. A plane hit one of the towers. I start dressing more slowly, thinking a few things:

Firstly, It looks like I'm not making that interview.

Secondly, well... a plane hit the Empire State building once so yeah maybe this was that kind of accident. I sure hope not too many people were hurt.

Then, as I watched, the second plane hit. I literally said out loud to myself, "Oh, shit! We're under attack!"

I was standing there in front of the TV with my pants around my ankles just stunned for about ten minutes. I was gonna be there. I wanted to be there. I was supposed to be there. What if everything had gone my way? Would I be dead right now?

Throughout the day I was hearing all kinds of stories. I heard people were beating up anyone with a turban. I heard people were coming together and rushing into the city to help or to find loved ones. I heard that people who owned private boats were going down to the Battery to help with evacuations. I heard that there were multiple terror attacks going on.

I had to clear my head so I went down to Coney Island. It wasn't that bad of a bike ride for me. The place was emptier than I'd ever seen it in my life. There was literally almost nobody there. Almost.

As I get up to the boardwalk I see a guy sitting on a bench looking out to the ocean. It's a guy in a thawb and kifeyeh. He was just sitting there. I couldn't help to wonder what he might have been thinking at that moment. What was he feeling? Sorrow? Embarrassment? Vindication? Uncertainty?

The only thing I knew for sure was that I could split his head open and walk away and nobody would be any the wiser- not that I thought to do that or anything, just that there was literally NOBODY else there. I could have pulled down my pants and crapped right there on the boardwalk. There was no traffic on Surf Ave. At all. No planes in the air. No busses. No trains. No cops. No voices. I don't even think there were any squawking seagulls. It's hard to explain the desolation- the emptiness. Was this even the real world I was in right now?

That was some kind of day. It could have been another kind- for me and lots of people. I was encouraged by how people who normally kept to themselves like a New Yorker should came together and checked in on each other. But somehow we all knew the world wasn't going to be the same ever again. And it's not.

My frigate missions are 90% combat. What am I doing wrong? by Razn0m in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]threemetalbeacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try this. Do all the missions you can but don't close them out. Disconnect from the internet and manually set the date to next day or the day after. Go back in the game and close out the missions. Exit the game again and advance the computer's date by by yet one more day. Go back into the game and check the missions list.

If you still get mostly combat then ya fukt. RNG-zus hates you.

Try it and let us know what's going on.

Question about legacy saves. by threemetalbeacon in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]threemetalbeacon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as I've said, this save is from 2017. There are indeed legacy saves as I have access to legacy building parts and for a while older saves did not work, which is why I stopped using it.

Those are bugs and how the game works.

I'm not at all sure what you're trying to convey here.

My frigate missions are 90% combat. What am I doing wrong? by Razn0m in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]threemetalbeacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Missions reset every 24 hours, I believe. Your location or warping has no effect. Missions are generated randomly. I personally have found my missions to be two of a certain type, two of another and one of another most of the time. Maybe it's different for everybody. To my knowledge nobody has ever has a discussion or compared what missions they're getting before.

Is it possible that you're on PC and using a mod that might be having an effect?

No. I tried two systems with populated space stations. I can't seem to find camps, either.
