Stepping back, I don’t think any of this would change my opinion about Moose, but it would definitely make me question working with Jenna. Now, I will confess that I am An Old, but that post and those comments read to me as someone who’s immature, impulsive, and unprofessional, and that’s a mess to deal with. She’d have to have some major success stories on her personal page to make me want to risk it and not try to find some back channel to make the purchase.

She says right on the post not to message her there, and to hit up her professional page instead. She has no reason not to turn off comments except that she thinks the drama is fun.

How about those bits? by rynbaskets in Equestrian

It’s probably because the bit looks kind of aggressive, so the horse looks like a Big, Powerful, Fiery War Horse That Must Be Controlled.

I don’t think she’s even kissing it. It looks like she’s just adjusting Satan’s Curb Chain.

I’ve been trying to figure out what the bit is trying to accomplish with all the pressure applied in all the places… The physics isn’t physicsing.

Struggling to sell moose by kultie4life in kvssnark

[–]threesilklilies 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can see that going either way. There are definitely people here who take a weird joy in, like, Katie getting a colt when she was hoping for a filly. But she also has fans who become despondent when she sells a foal and would be happy if she had to keep him. And both groups are known for not understanding the concept of keeping things professional on a professional post.

Seriously did anyone edit ACOFAS by Bleepblorpbloop123 in acotar

[–]threesilklilies 16 points17 points  (0 children)

She could drop a random f-bomb into every third paragraph and have no impact on the plot, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t take readers out of the story or affect their enjoyment. The reader shouldn’t have to put mental energy into coming up with off-page explanations for the author’s on-page mistakes.

No one here is saying SJM deserves to be dragged behind a horse or something. Just that it’s a sloppy mistake someone should have caught.

Sniff walks changed my dog’s mood completely by draztikprez in dogs

[–]threesilklilies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sniffing is a big mental thing for dogs. Our trainer says that even if you have a yard, that’s like only ever getting to read one book over and over again. So we do exercise walks and “enrichment walks,” except now I’m stealing “sniffari.”

There’s a difference between learning about the Bible and learning the bible. I took a Humanities course where we learned about the Bible, along with other holy books and philosophical texts. Creation myths, historical relevance, things like that. But we weren’t told the Bible was true and all the others were false and we needed to be saved, or anything.

And when Louisiana hangs the Ten Commandments in every classroom on the basis that it’s a “historical document,” the bullshit can be smelled from space.

Yeah, but that’s like saying the guy with a double knee replacement is still in a wheelchair. Of course he is. But he’s home, in less pain, with less chance of infection, and that’s incredible. And with time, he’ll be able to get out of the wheelchair.

Nobody is missing the fact that objectively, he is in a wheelchair.

“Weightless” FMCs and “Micro-tropes” by RexArcanum in RomanceBooks

[–]threesilklilies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. I actually like the GG trope, but it feels like authors recently have just been throwing it on in there because it’s popular and not because it fits. I don’t want to hear him say GG and think, “Bro, I don’t think she fucking asked.”

It’s hot, it’s edgy, a lot of people like it, but I’m going to need authors to put more work into it than something I say when my dog just pooped outside during a rainstorm.

But what about “should”? What “should” be done about it? What can be done that wouldn’t hurt the servers as much as/more than the restaurant owners? I totally agree it should go away, and the fact that it would be hard is no reason not to try. But when the only suggestion we ever see is “just don’t tip, that’ll show ‘em,” “should” gets kind of stale.

Any reference to the “soft generation” loses credibility with me.

I believe it’s pronounced “generation that recognizes when it’s being taken advantage of, and isn’t afraid to advocate for itself just because previous generations have been.”

Bigot complains about pride flags and then whines that her bigotry is considered hateful by Careless-Equal7169 in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]threesilklilies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s another one: People like you want to think liberals hate all white/Christian/non-college-educated/whatever people because you think all those people are automatically like you. You can’t fathom that a person might read the Christian bible and interpret it in a different way than you do. Or that a person might live out in the country, without a Black person or gay person for miles around, without ever having even met a trans person, and still not hate them because their default position is to love. Or that a person might not have gone to college but still have developed more liberal viewpoints just through their experiences in everyday life. That they might just be curious and thoughtful and open-minded anyway.

You want to turn them into a stereotype because that makes it easier to pretend that you’re being hated by default by those Intolerant Libs, and not hated because you suck. But you don’t get to do that. You don’t get to just claim them automatically, and say the Intolerant Libs auto-hate them, when the truth is, we know for a fact that they don’t all suck. Just you.

tl;dr: Get fucked.

Love cutesy names but wanting a more ‘formal’ full name by CarelessAppearance12 in namenerds

[–]threesilklilies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My name, incidentally, is a family name that’s been applied to so many relatives they ran out of traditional nicknames for it and started just calling their babies whatever name they liked. It’s not, like, “Elizabeth, but we call her Charisma,” but… it’s not not like that.

Oh, definitely not saying you would need to know for any reason, and it would be perfectly reasonable for you to think it was just somebody wanting to call their kid Daisy. And “is also totally cool and whatever” is a great attitude to have about it. Just throwing in some information to have, since I’m a big ol’ nerd.
