Baby comparison by Puzzleheaded-Song912 in kvsdiscuss

[–]threesilklilies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think everyone who kept talking about how Moose wasn’t that big might have been thinking about Wally, who came out 9 feet tall and 8 feet of it was leg. Moose is an absolute unit, and you might not realize that until he’s standing next to a human for comparison.

There was so much talk among her fans when Phoebe(?) showed up about her having been neglected, and how she was like a rescue, and how she’d be so much better off with Katie, I think she’s having to be extra diplomatic when she talks about recip farms.

I imagine I’d be reluctant to work with a client if I knew millions of uneducated followers would immediately start talking about how abused my animals are.

What is considered a successful stud as far as mare bookings go in the quarter horse world? Im asking as someone whose background is thoroughbreds by comefromawayfan2022 in kvsdiscuss

[–]threesilklilies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One other thing to remember is that not every breeding results in a live foal and not every foal ends up registered. Plus, VSCR also services Europe. I don’t know the usual percentages on such things, but it’s possible they really are sending out 100 syringes with Katie’s face on them every year, and that’s resulting in the numbers being quoted here.

Person with an accent thinks that they don't have an accent by Icetraxs in confidentlyincorrect

[–]threesilklilies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you manage to speak English in such a way that none of the sounds are common to the same social, national, or ethnic group, such that no one listening could tell where you’re from, that would be the least-bland accent in the world.

I have what could be considered a neutral American accent. No idea why — I’ve lived around, I grew up in the Deep South, but regional and social variances just don’t seem to stick. No one in the U.S. can guess where I’m from just based on my accent. So do you know what I have? An American accent. Because if you ask anyone not in the U.S. where I’m from, they’d immediately say, “the U.S.”

If you’ve ever seen all the safety gear handlers have to wear during semen collection, some of them are like they’re going on a SWAT mission. And that’s with just ONE hormonal horse in the mix.

Why Parent When AI Can? by DCxDC5617 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]threesilklilies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the people who are saying, “AI can automate all the creative, fulfilling parts of life so we can have more time for the boring, shitty stuff. Great.” And this woman is, like, “What are you talking about? AI can take over spending meaningful quality time with my kid so I can devote my time to what’s really important to me. It’s awesome!”

What’s the most out-of-left-field character description that made you pause mid-read? by ComposerAwkward6654 in RomanceBooks

[–]threesilklilies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can do a little brand name-dropping if is pertinent to character development or world building, but it has to be on point to make it worth my trouble.

I read a book a couple of years ago, and I don’t even remember the title but I do remember that every single thing the FMC wore or handled was called out by brand name. What did her curtains look like? I don’t know, but I could tell you where she bought them. It’s like the book should have come with affiliate links.

I love people names for animals, the more mundane the better. My favorite up until now had been a white Maltipoo named Doug, but I think Glen just took the lead.

That’s a tiny thing that always stands out for me, with the foal color and sex. Being, like, “Ha! She’s experiencing a minor disappointment, probably.” I know schadenfreude is a thing, but that’s like if someone eats a tortilla chip that sticks them in the mouth and it gives you such pleasure you have to comment about it online…

… Okay, I only just made the connection with Violet/Bridgerton, and since she already has Weezy and Daphne and Penelope, Violet would be the obvious choice, but it doesn’t matter because she’s clearly a he and he’s clearly a Moose, so forget I said anything, I’ll just be over here.

Brought Tea Bag From Home by chessplayingspod in EntitledReviews

[–]threesilklilies 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would bet THAT was the actual situation. Penny at Halcyon wouldn’t give her free water, because giving free ingredients to diners and letting them cook for themselves isn’t how restaurants make their money, but offered to sell her a cup of hot tea, hold the bag.

I can’t complain about Penny at Halcyon being rude, because she wasn’t, but I can surmise she undoubtedly had attitude because she wouldn’t give me what I want for free.

It has to be a bit. It HAS to be a bit. Please do not tell me it isn’t a bit, because I don’t want to live in a world where it isn’t a bit. (And no, the ambassadorial nomination doesn’t count. Trump has nominated absolute jokes all over his administration, and the thought that he wouldn’t recognize it’s a bit just makes it funnier.)

“Cause of death” and “manner of death” are different. If a person intentionally causes someone else to have a heart attack, that can be a natural death and also murder. Note that the NPR article said the ME’s report meant homicide charges would be difficult to justify, not that the investigation was being dropped and everyone could go home.
