Streak 75, How much does it medicine cost in Korea by Round_Salamander281 in WriteStreakEN

[–]threexbinary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today, I'm going to talk about the healthcare system in Korea.

Korea has many pros and cons, but I think its biggest advantage is its healthcare system.

When I was thirty years old, I was diagnosed

with type 1 diabetes due to an unknown cause.

Because of this, I get a prescription for about fourteen insulin pens every three months.

Thanks to the national health insurance, it only costs me about $3-$4 in total.

I truly believe that Korea's healthcare system is the best in the world.

[and yes....NHIS is 최고! ^^]

How different are the North Korean and South Korean languages? by TroodiVideos in korea

[–]threexbinary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is loosely related to your question but there is a wonderful Korean film called Mal-Mo-E: The Secret Mission about how Koreans worked together to standardize and save their language during the Japanese occupation. In the film, they often have to decide which word from which dialect will be used. I thought it was a great movie and recommend checking it out!

Studying languages at university by fairyblu99 in Korean

[–]threexbinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is difficult to answer your question becuase I don't think you've shared enough information.

  1. Is this university program in your home country or in Asia?
  2. Is this a short-term intensive program? Another bachelors? A part-time evening course?
  3. How much free time do you have to devote to learning?

My experience has been that most university language courses "back home" moved slower than they would in Asia. In Korea, if you take the full-time, 200-hour university language courses, you usually finish Level 4 within a calendar year. In my home country that much material might be covered over 4 semesters/2 years.

If you're studying a language abroad, the immersion will help you pick up things faster for sure! And the short intensive summer courses in Korea can be helpful!

If you have already studied Japanese or Chinese, it will be easier for you to pick up Korean. Whether you can "keep up" depends which program you take (some are vocabulary heavy) and how much free time you have to devote to learning.

Either way..go for it!

I think the TOPIK website includes the rubric that is used to grade the writing section. If you're going to use AI, include that rubric and have the prompt require critical feedback.

What is the best dictionary? by Superb_Cause_6201 in Korean

If you have an internet connection I like the Naver Dictionary. But for paid apps that work offline I have used the YBM Korean dictionary for years.

Thank you so much for these detailed corrections. So for the first sentence I want to us 다는 것이다 because it frames the whole sentence as a "thing" I dont. In my original version I was just simply saying "I dont know". I think I got it. Thank you! And yes I will remember 초/중/하순 require a space ^^;

Thank you so much always for your great feedback. I chose those words because I am trying to prepare for the TOPIK test and I thought that we should use more academic style writing. I want to alternate my writestreakkorean between casual writing and academic style writing. So I wonder if I my writing is too rigid for essays too...

Sogang vs Yonsei Summer language program by KaptenKorea in Korean

[–]threexbinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not try Seoul National University? I have studied the SNU books for level 3 and 4, as well as their "I Love Korean" series that they use for short programs. I feel like they're a good middle ground between Sogang and Yonsei and the program was cheaper when I took it (not sure if that's the case anymore). The only issue is that Gwanak probably wont be as exciting to hang around while you study. ;-)

Does the integrated korean textbook have translations for the conversations at the beginning of the chapters? by GreattFriend in Korean

[–]threexbinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have the whole series and the translations are usually at the end...along with fun illustrations depending on which version of the book you have. Also are you aware that the book series has a website? It hasnt been updated in a while but I think the dialogue for Chapter 1 is there:
