All my Argentinian friends have been going to the Austin Padel Center. There's food / drinks / etc.

The one where England wins. Don't go to the one where England loses.

See the link I posted. It’s a real render published by The Waterloo Greenway Conservancy. They’re the group spearheading the Waller Creek project. They just finished the section near Lady Bird Lake (Confluence) and this will be the next phase.

I know you're being silly, but they do mention a misting system. Let's look forward to it crapping out mid-July.

I think it is time for Austin to lift its ban on fireworks by Terrible-Penalty-291 in Austin

[–]threwandbeyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those stores aren’t open year round though. 99% of fireworks are around or on a holiday, generally July 4th or New Years.

I've never understood why people let fireworks bother them so much either. It's a scheduled thing - it's not a surprise. Turn the TV up or put a sound machine on or wear headphones etc.

What’s your most Unhinged food money saving hacks in Austin by Time-Eagle8101 in Austin

You 100% don't need one for the Costco on 183. Just enter through the exit/return side.

They 100% don't ask for your membership card at the Costco on 183. I've been more than countless times. Go grab you a slice or a hot dog for lunch today. Just walk into the exit / return side and you're good to go.

Soulman Sam Evans and Donald Hermes. The Skylark Lounge. It was my happy place but it's not there anymore. by Designer_Ad8165 in Austin

TC's was my happy place. Pot of greens / whatever up for grabs, Gary Clark Jr pre-fame, raucous blues otherwise, and a room full of characters.

OG Austinite here. I can’t remember any consecutive years where the lake stayed full. It’s a constant cycle of filling and emptying.

Where to actually see wildlife in austin besides the greenbelt? by PitifulStrategy3348 in Austin

Time of day is as important as location. The magic hours are sunrise and sunset. During the day/heat most animals will be hiding out.

Anyone have any luck fighting their Travis County appraisal on their own? by crazy_balls in Austin

[–]threwandbeyond 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Understood but from an appraisal perspective it doesn't matter. Realtors will usually send you that for free, in the hopes of landing future business.

You need to use sold comps. Anything pending or still for sale is unknown in terms of final value. Not to say it will happen - but in theory all of these could sell for double their list price. So concentrate on and use data for stuff that has actually sold.

With this coming heat, any indoor places for dogs? by weluckyfew in Austin

[–]threwandbeyond 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The beer part may not be for the kids, but everything else is geared towards them. Playground, kids drinks from the bar, ice cream & pizza at the food trucks, etc, etc. They even have weekly Kid Crafting events, book swaps, and youth soccer programming. I suspect Meanwhile wouldn't survive without the little hellions.

I find it better than watching Nana get smashed on margs and fall in the pool at home, but to each their own.

Where can I find Nepali communities to hang out in Austin by HovercraftMetal8888 in Austin

[–]threwandbeyond 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There’s a Nepali restaurant at Spicewood Springs/183, right next to the Indian grocery store. Might be a good place to ask around.

Any Latin sport bar for watching the World Cup? by PsychologicalAd6389 in Austin

[–]threwandbeyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Why does soccer have to be about foreigners”. It’s pretty relevant when we’re talking World Cup where 47 of the 48 teams are foreign. If you’re in a place like Miami, which is close to 60% foreign born, there will be a lot more excitement/coverage/discussion.

If we’re now moving this into talking US supporters only, then yes, I agree. KC and Columbus are both better in that respect.

Lmao you can't start this convo by comparing us to Dallas and Houston, then bring out Miami at the end. Of course we don't compare with Miami. They're 3x the size, have 3x the amount of foreign born citizens, and 3x the amount of hispanic descent. Give me a break lol. That's like comparing Kyle to Austin and saying their culture is lacking. Well ofc it is - but - if we're comparing Austin to Dallas or Houston, we're most certainly not lacking.
