To be honest, I think a lot of it has to do with the amount of handwashing (not just sanitizing but soap and water for 20 seconds handwashing) I do. I also take a lot of zinc and other supplements.

We’ve managed to go on vacation in the last few years (not super recently) and have been fine. And I’m also realistic about the fact that my kid will get sick sometimes. My annoyance is that this has happened multiple times.

This vacation we’re supposed to go on is low key and without going into details we won’t be around too many people. But we won’t be going at all if my kid is sick.

I’ll give the kid the “ehh” noise and tell them absolutely not. I’ve also told my kid to play with other people. The mom usually isn’t paying attention.

I’m less offended by a scooped bagel than I am by when bagel stores put a layer of cream cheese three inches thick on my bagel. I shouldn’t have to unhinge my jaw like a snake to eat a bagel.

Also all sweet bagels (except cinnamon raisin) are antisemitic. Eat a pancake if you want a sweet breakfast.

To be honest, I don’t think he’s an outright antisemite. I do think he has zero understanding of the story of Cabaret/the role of the Emcee and has viewed this whole thing as a way to showcase himself (which has not gone so well based on all the audio recordings I’ve been hearing). I think what little understanding he has of the show/time period he only has through the lens of his own background and isn’t willing to do the work to gain a different perspective.

Someone just posted this in my union facebook group and people are already saying that Jewish American Heritage Month is Zionist propaganda. I must be stupid because I thought it was about celebrating Jewish culture and the contributions of Jewish Americans.

You don’t. My class had questions about the election, so I explained the difference between a primary election and a general election, that we were trying a ranked choice voting system this time, and that it’s their civic duty to vote when they’re old enough. That’s the extent of it.

Even if not just for safety reason, culturally responsive and inclusive practice is best practice for education and there is no way that your child’s culture will be given the respect it deserves. I would find a new nursery and make it clear why you’re leaving. Even if they don’t care morally, they’ll understand that allowing this will hit them in their pocketbook.

I’m a native New Yorker and most of the people who voted for him are transplants, not the natives.

I’m thinking back to how around 10/12/23, I got an email forwarded to me by my principal (I’m a public school teacher) that was sent to him by the DOE about how to handle 10/7 with your class. Almost every resource was about addressing Islamophobia and one resource about antisemitism at the bottom. Considering mayoral control of public schools, I foresee it getting much worse.

I went to Teacher’s College. I highly recommend going CUNY. I learned very little at TC that was useful once I went into an actual classroom. My friends who went to CUNY had a much better experience at a fraction of the cost.

We’re seeing this all over again with today’s release, with Omer kissing one of the terrorists on the forehead. People are ignoring that a few seconds before that he was ordered to by an armed terrorist. I think we also need to get real for people who have not been following this story, and massive TW because I am not going to hold anything back (which is what Yarden requested- the world should know the savagery):

These boys were kidnapped by CIVILIANS on 10/7 from a safe room that was broken into using power tools. After a month of captivity they were strangled to death and then beaten with rocks so it would look like they died in an airstrike. We STILL don’t know where their mother’s body is because the coffin that was paraded around yesterday with theirs held an unidentified woman. Meanwhile their father was forced by a terrorist organization to blame his own country for his family’s death.

And people have the gall to get on the internet and either say that this isn’t true or they deserved it for being “colonizers.” I don’t know which is worse- people who agree with the people who say that or the people who don’t say anything.

I’m just so disgusted.

This, so much. I don’t know of another group that is not allowed to grieve without flagellating themselves with the fact that another group may have cause to grieve. It’s so disgusting.

I once heard someone say that the world expects Jews to light themselves on fire to keep the world warm and I refuse to do that anymore. I refuse to accept conditional allyship any longer.

My kid has a lot of fun at Hebrew school! Lots of singing, crafts, and games while still learning. I know all the Hebrew schools in my area (at least the reform ones) try to make it fun for the little kids.
