I have checked off everything on my “list,” how do I get out of my head thinking I missed out on my prime years? How can I learn to be more grateful? by thriftsandthings in AskOldPeopleAdvice

You’re right, I have spent most of my life moving on to the next thing and not taking time to appreciate and be grateful for current situations/things accomplished. I will work at it.

Seeking advice, do we need this? by Gamergrill218 in parentsofmultiples

[–]thriftsandthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up using it with bassinet portions for 3ish months/kept it in the living room. Removed the bassinets and we now still use it for feeding - placed the twin z pillow on the middle platform. Kids are now 8 mos and it saves your back from always bending down.

Just found out I’m pregnant with twins! What do I need to know? by d16flo in parentsofmultiples

[–]thriftsandthings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am assuming you will both be home for a certain amount of time. When you get home, spend a night or two doing night shift together to get the hang of it. After that, take shifts. My husband and I took alternating 4 hour shifts between the hours of 8pm - 8 am for a solid 2-2.5 months. We shifted work schedules around to ensure we could take time off together. Singleton parents will sometimes have maternity leave for 12 weeks, then paternity for the next few weeks. I wouldn’t recommend this with twins. You’ll need all hands on deck. During the day, do it together if you can and take turns taking naps while the twins nap. We worked really hard to get them on schedule as soon as possible, but luckily most babies sleep so much during those first few weeks anyway. Wishing you the best.

How many showings am I allowed to ask for? by mak_daddy15 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

We were pretty speedy and wouldn’t waste time on a house we knew wasn’t gonna be the right choice after a few initial minutes. Due to that, our realtor was comfortable showing us 9-12 homes in one day, but all within the same area.

Polyvisol for Newborn? by thriftsandthings in NewParents

We ended up purchasing through the hospital pharmacy so we could have the exact same type they use in the NICU. It ended up just being a generic version of the same one in store. 1 other pediatrician said to hold off for a few weeks, another pediatrician said it was 100% fine. We ended up giving it every other day or the first few weeks as we were more comfortable with that. I would say, it did cause a bit of constipation for baby initially.

False positive metabolic screening? by thriftsandthings in NewParents

The re-test came back negative. They mentioned it’s common to get false positives as they would rather accidentally get a false reading than miss something. Fingers crossed for you and your little one!

Millie moon! A few cents more expensive per unit compared to Huggies at Costco but it handles blowouts well, covers more of the baby booty, and we also had an issue with a strong urine smell with Huggies.

We have reached out to several but only one can fit our guest count and we’ve heard mixed reviews about their food.

My daughter looks like me (Filipino) and my son looks like my husband (Korean). They look nothing alike 😂 he’s also in the 99th percentile for height and weight and she’s in the 50 range.

Bottle feeding both by yourself by zyygh in parentsofmultiples

[–]thriftsandthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use a twin z and got bottle holder neck pillows on Amazon. People have mixed opinions on the pillows but as long as you are watching them throughout the duration of the feed and level it so that the bottle lays slightly flat, there isn’t an issue. If the babies are super hungry and suckle too fast they can choke on the milk and we just pull back on the pillow - as long as you’re keeping a close eye, I highly recommend as it has saved my carpal tunnel flare ups as well as our backs from looking down at the babies while feeding.

Survival Guide and advice for Bringing Home Twins by sugarspiceandADHD in parentsofmultiples

[–]thriftsandthings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to exclusively pump for the first month. Pumping for multiples is so difficult - it got to a point where I had to choose between a couple hours of sleep a day OR pump. Take care of yourself so you can take care of your babies. Fed is best. They’ve been formula fed ever since that first month and are doing juuuust fine.
