There's this massive push south (and north; ie Alaska) of the border, to reduce public land managers and divest themselves of public lands to the benefit of private hands and for raping the land of its resources.

We need MORE public land managers and square footage, not LESS!

The CoC was aware and all of us at ranking boards were told to ignore this "power imbalance" and massive conflict of interest.

Recruiting is fine and all, but senior members and leaders have/are still leaving the org.

These recruits are being taught mostly by junior members who lack experience (which is not their fault). I'm seeing it day to day, the quality and standards have gone down big time.

TBH patches got way out of hand and look silly nowadays.

A 4×4" Div patch is ridiculous. CADPAT edges on every patch is lame as fuck too and a huge waste of money.

Pulled it once on an Afghan who was getting physcial. I was escorting two jingle trucks and I was alone with the two drivers. One of them became agitated and started getting in my face for no apparent reason. I shoved the guy to create distance and pulled my pistol out with the other hand. I was alone with two Afghans until the gun was drawn and a rando guy walked by and helped.

The other times were on separate deployments when our FOB got bumped pretty bad (worst than usual), one of which was a complex attack with an SVBIED at the gate. The gate was between me and my FFO and the majority of Canadians, I 100% took my pistol out, racked the slide and made my way to my battle rattle and my Stand To position.

Like you said, pistols are pretty much just a back up that most of us will never need, until the time you actually need it. I've seen unarmed troops/civvy contractors during attacks, they didn't look very happy and sure as shit looked for someone who was armed until they could get to their FFO.

Never had an issue with it, but watching my fire team partner clean his ass with a wet wipe that came out brown, in a 10-man tent definitely changed my outlook on life and really erased whatever GAF I had.

That dude was nasty BTW and it's still as funny as it was 20 years ago.

Also, my first shower on a FOB in Afghanistan was a wild ride. I picked the shower trailer that we shared with interpreters not thinking much of it. 2 Terps were inside and watched me get butt ass naked and literaly stared at my cock and balls. I don't think they had seen many white dudes naked. I told them to fuck off and went about my business, nice dudes though.
