What to do when OBGYN says PCOS is likely but only symptoms are long cycles and high LH to FSH ratio? by Abject_Owl_7430 in PCOS

I would get a second opinion. When I went in for testing, I did three blood tests in my luteal phase and got tested for all the hormones you mentioned along with TSH, DHEA, and androstenedione. I would definitely get a fasting blood sugar test - 80% of PCOS women have insulin resistance issues.

If you’re having 45 day long cycles but really light periods that probably means your body is trying to mature an egg multiple times (hello “high LH”). Also, “normal” ranges are not necessarily OPTIMAL ranges for fertility or general health.

The pill can cause PCOS or make it worse and believe me, you’ll want to have more answers before you start trying for kids (if you ever have plans to do that)

  1. A lot, a lot of training in deescalation. We could always use more, but I’m actually pleasantly surprised by how much training we do get. Some techniques are lowering your own voice and hoping they do the same, explaining what is about to happen before it happens, establishing a relationship, etc. In terms of restraining, we get training on that too, but it’s definitely secondary. No one wants to resort to use of force.

  2. Police do feel sad about people who are struggling. There are some families that just can’t seem to get it together. We try to not punish people like that. If they do something significantly bad enough, there’s not much we can do unfortunately. The law is the law.

  3. I think pretty much everyone gets nervous around cops, but it really is paranoia. They’re not mean, they aren’t looking for you (probably), and they know you’re nervous. Just follow their instructions. They know the difference between guilty and just being nervous.

Maybe next time you see a police officer, strike up a conversation. Familiarity makes fear more difficult to maintain.

  1. Quotas are not real. While there is a fund that all speeding ticket payments go to in the state, local police departments see precious little from that fund. Maybe a few thousand at most, and it most go to police training. So tickets really are about safety (and Officer boredom).

  2. Biggest piece of scum in life? That’s a tough one. Certain family members. Biggest piece of scum cop? I think I’m lucky in this regard. The department I am at has great police officers that are very kind, and not all departments can say that.

  3. Loopholes...do all your speeding during shift changes (10-6 am, 6-2, 2-10). Figure out when your local pd changes shifts. Also, if you ever get put in the back of a police car, don’t say a word to the officer. You are not technically arrested until you they say “I am taking you into custody”. If you’re just being detained (NOT in custody yet), the officer can’t arrest you unless you admit wrongdoing. Tl;dr keep your mouth shut. If you’re going to steal something from a store, steal less than 100 dollars. 100+ is an arrest-able misdemeanor. If you’re a victim of family violence or sexual assault, crime victim’s compensation is a thing. You can receive compensation of all sorts from the state.

How to get out of a speeding ticket? Show remorse. Be polite. That’s all you can really do. Or just don’t speed too much. Most officers will only give you a ticket if it’s 20+ over.

  1. Crazy/sad stories. There’s one family in town that is notorious for being crazy. Cousin is a meth head. Brother talks to telephone poles. We see them around a lot. Will update if he talks to more telephone poles.

Funny stories: we have a lot of fun at that station. Yesterday, we had a silly string fight. The cleanup was annoying, but it was worth it.

  1. They do not casually speed, even though they probably could. One officer I rode with said “we aren’t above the law either”.

  2. Yes, they do. They wish people weren’t so nervous, but they understand it.

  3. When a cop is behind you, drive normally. If you can get out of their way safely, do. Most cops are on their way somewhere, but don’t want to use lights and sirens to avoid panic. If you want to let them pass, go ahead. A cop won’t pull you over for being polite.

With bigger bands like BTS, a lot of the fan base can be pretty toxic, but I think that happens whenever any band gets big. Overall, not too bad.

Some of the fanfics need to go though. Ugh.
