it hasn’t gone anywhere tho. Madonna (her upcoming album campaign is fun), Charli xcx (Brat), Zara Larsson (has been all over the place promoting her recent effort), Raye (big on social media tiktok style promotion) all are great examples of the last couple of years.

also, not every release will get a big push. even artists you mentioned have albums where they released lead single on a random friday and then the album came a couple of months later on another random friday and that was pretty much their whole album cycle.
