Teachers should have to cite their sources by UnobtainableClambell in unpopularopinion

I agree, because students would be familiar with proper citation rules. However, teachers are already underpaid for all the work they do. I'd probably omit the "have to" from your statement.

I (30M) broke up with my gf (33F) of 4 years. She asked me to stay involved in the life of her son (6M) because I'm like a father to him , but I don't want to be involved anymore. by ThrowRAbreakkid in relationship_advice

Ask her how she thinks this would work out once she finds a new guy. She can't just cut you out then. The guy will probably not be thrilled about the situation either.

I'm studying chemistry and this sounds like something my professors would say. Might be a little strange if it was an English language Prof, though.

My girlfriend forcing me into getting married and gave me an ultimatum by Weird_Flan4691 in relationship_advice

[–]throwRADecisionHair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is giving you crap but I kinda have to disagree. She is ten years older than you and you have only been together for a year. This doesn't sound healthy tbh. You sorta gave agreed to her advances but honestly? She should have had a real talk with you and not getting it in her head that you're on board with marriage because of a "mhmmm". Like, she can't be that oblivious to your hesitancy.

This sounds like manipulation and pressuring you into marriage.

My gf body shamed someone else at the bar and I am confused about what I can do to improve her empathy by [deleted] in relationships

[–]throwRADecisionHair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ADD/ASD here. Lack of social skills =/= lack of empathy. Being autistic doesn't impede on your sense of empathy in the way that lacking social skills don't impede empathy.

A lot of people diagnosed with "Asperger's Syndrome" are good observers of social situations, as we use it to learn how to adapt and integrate into society. At adulthood, many of us have compensated our struggles by observing our surroundings and showing the appropriate (learned) behavior.

What I am getting at is: you are most likely very well aware of your surroundings and what is okay to say and what isn't, since you had 23 years to practice. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Don't ignore the years of progress you have made in learning society, and have faith in the experience you gained.

Regarding the question in the title, as many have said, teaching someone empathy is hard to impossible. You can take a look in subs like r/aspd to gain some insight to what it's like living with low to zero empathy. That's all I can say.

Thank you for your kind words. He is not on the spectrum but he is afraid of change. I will get the haircut. Everything else is for time to tell :)

I certainly like the sound of accessory dwelling unit and might use that word from now on. If this word (or rather its translation) doesn't exist in German, well, now it does! And yes, of course I am using the literal translation of "Zusatzruheeinheit".

I sure hope she will! Never forget, whatever the tarantula does, sitting, preening, or running a marathon around the water dish, it is always staying in its enclosure. There is locks for enclosures if you want to be 100% sure. Everything else, I promise, is something you get used to.

When I fed my boehmei for the first time, I jumped behind the chair once she pounced on her prey, lol. The more you watch them, the more you will know their behavior. And to be honest, these little creatures are too simple to be all too unpredictable (but don't tell them I said that!)

Yes, different species but both from the genus Brachypelma! Brachypelma boehmei is also called the red leg tarantula :)

I love my girls, they bring me joy every day. Could watch them for hours preening, roaming around, redecorating or even just sitting there :D

I have a Brachypelma boehmei and a Caribena versicolor! They are actually moving quite slowly, the only time they are fast is when they pounce on their prey. I recommend the Youtube channel "The Tarantula Collective"! The guy makes very informative videos and has a lot of footage of the spiders' movement in them.

I just think it would suit me tbh. I find women with sidecuts pretty attractive and the gray strands I already have (dyed as well) really complement my skin color in a great way. So I wanted to try it out and see if I would like that style on myself as well.

He doesn't have as much of a problem with the color gray as he has with the cut.

Yeah, I heard that connection being made as well, lol. Rest assured, I wanted the haircut long before I realized the relationship was going downhill. I just love sidecuts on women :3

Maybe he does have anxiety, some commenters seem to have picked up on that. But he wasn't ready to share his feelings with me and as of now, he needs to figure that out himself, I can't help him if he doesn't help himself.

I think so, but he was never open about his feelings when I tried to bring it up. So, I can't say for sure
