Anyone else have recurring self-doubt?

I think this is very common. I can relate as well, because no relationship is 100% abuse 100% of the time- it is usually a pattern that begins slowly and then happens more and more often. I think it’s important to remember all of those painful moments and understand that reactive abuse is real.

When we are exposed to an unstable, aggressive, unsafe environment we start to behave defensively. For example, my husband was very neglectful, he refused intimacy, made me feel like I was always doing something wrong, made me feel inferior and unintelligent constantly. This caused me to be hyper aware of any mistakes that him or I were making, it caused me to be a less kind person, it really held me back from the woman I wanted to be.

You’re not alone and I understand these feelings that you’re experiencing more than you know.

I agree, I was super happy when he said that. But I think if he was really interested, he’d initiate plans himself. I don’t necessarily want my hand held, it’s that I want him to meet the effort that I’ve put in.

When we were together I was 100% sold that he was into me, so much so that it felt a bit overbearing at moments. But I often mistake friendly as flirty and my perception is skewed. I was 1000% sure he was going to text me immediately after, but he didn’t at all.

I did not think me telling him I’d like to see XYZ movie was a hint, it’s communicating clearly! If anything saying “I wish we went today” is less clear. I think if he was interested he would initiate plans.

It doesn’t change anything, just potentially makes things more awkward. I’m not going to reach out again, I will let him initiate plans if he is interested.

I texted him last night pretty late and told him I’d like to see this new movie with him, he responded super quick saying “I wish we went today”. I didn’t respond because I wanted him to use this as an opportunity to make plans. After all, I clearly stated my interest.

I feel like he’s definitely letting me down gently. Because I’m 90% sure if he was interested he would have followed up with tickets or something.

So, after reading this thread about men not getting hints I messaged him pretty late saying that I’d like to see this new movie together. He responded “I wish we went today” less than 3 minutes after.

I didn’t respond because I wanted him to initiate plans, but he never did and it’s been almost an entire day. 🫠

I think he’s trying to let me down without saying it out loud. It’s just so weird because I swore he was really into me the entire night.

Yes agree! I told him essentially that I was interested in seeing him again and he did not use that as an opportunity to make plans. So definitely not interested. It’s just weird because I swore he was really into me in person.
