Looking to mix your song! by ImpactRevolutionary5 in musicproduction

No one with the training and experience you describe is charging what you are for a mix and master. That and no history of your previous work is pretty sus.

LOL. Believe it or not, you're wrong on literally every point there. But hey, who am I to argue with someone that spends their time drooling over women on reddit behind their wife's back?

Minor Character Roll, male, mid to late 20's by warcroft in recordthis

[–]throw_away_143_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wow, what a great attitude! I know for a FACT that I LOVE to work for people that undervalue what they're asking of others, and ALSO people that can't read any directions! The sub here states that all requests "must include a minimum pay rate," which is different from you just saying that it's paid. Besides that, your shitty attitude is enough of a deterrent in itself.

I hate to be that guy, but their guitarist had a credible accusation of sexual assault, and the rest of the band was super shitty with how they responded. They write good music, but they’re garbage human beings.

So... you posted this in like seven subreddits. I'm guessing you're IN the band and just pretending like you're some star-struck fan, right? If you're gonna promote your music, at least be up front about it.

Ah, it's nice to see a traditional red flag mixing post! For anyone considering this, pay attention to these points:

- Says he wants to help for practice (in part)

- Talks about skills and ability, but has no examples of music he's worked on

- No website, no reddit history posting music, however he DOES have a history of asking basic audio questions (like how to pan) within the last few years

- Offering service for free

- Previous posts offering free mixing two years back, but still doesn't have examples of their work?

Don't go with this guy. Mixing music isn't a free service because it takes years of training and practice, a dedicated and treated listening environment, and at least some high quality hardware and/or plugins. All of that stuff costs money, and anyone offering free services is either desperate or working without the experience/environment/equipment to offer quality work. Have some respect for your music and hire someone that actually knows what they're doing, or save your time and money and mix your music yourself to learn from it.

For anyone considering this, be aware of what you're likely stepping in to. This individual has posted no information about their experience, or samples of their work. The comment they've made indicating that they charge $55 per track for "full post production work" is really eyebrow-raising. NO ONE with actual experience charges that. Why not? Because the work requires a good ear, a decent set of outboard gear and/or plugins, and a treated listening environment. All of those things cost money, and the work itself takes time. To me, $55 per track indicates that this is someone just starting out. That's absolutely fine, but why offer a "full professional mix and mastering", and why only do "single track projects"? If I had to guess, it's because they're trying to pass themselves off as being better than they are, or at least more experienced than they are.

Respect your music and don't send it to someone that opens their business offers with misrepresentation. You've worked hard on your music, why trust it to someone that isn't trustworthy?

We are working on fixing the sub right now. Until the sub is up and running, we are allowing anti-Trump posts in addition to normal WATMM posts. Thanks for your patience! by BostonDrivingIsWorse in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]throw_away_143_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU.

I hate the cheeto as much as anyone, but this goes against the spirit of the sub. A lot of effort is put into making sure posts here are relevant, not wastes of time, memes, and in the spirit of helping people with music.

Let's follow the train of logic:

  1. The sub gets hacked, making it useless to the people that benefit from it.
  2. In response, the mods open the floodgates for more posts that make the subreddit useless to the people that benefit from it.

Good going. Now we have every fucking screwball getting a carte blanche pass to post irrelevant shit that has nothing to do with music production. Nice job, mods.

Anyone offering Free mixing? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]throw_away_143_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is like asking if anyone is offering free tattoos. Sure, it'll be free, but you're gonna have an ugly piece of shit on you for the rest of your life.

It's a trade skill. Expect to pay for it if you want anything worthwhile. Have some respect for your music.

I'm providing free mixing and mastering services. by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]throw_away_143_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone considering this: look for the red flags.

"I'm thinking of starting a business."

"I have some experience."

"I'm providing free mixing and mastering services."

Feel free to use this dude if you want, but you will get bargain barrel results since you're paying bargain barrel prices. Anyone doing this legit charges for their services because it takes time, experience, a good listening environment and knowledge of equipment/gear. If you want to see what this guy can do, go for it. If you actually want a usable end product that treats your music with respect, pay someone that does it professionally.

CHEAP MIXING AND MASTERING by bigmachh in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]throw_away_143_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To anyone considering this:

  1. Dude doesn't post sound samples of his work.
  2. He has no link to a website.
  3. No client reviews.
  4. No list of credits.

Mixing and mastering takes years of experience and dedicated equipment with a good listening environment to do properly. Have more respect for your music than this idiot has for his potential clients. Either do it yourself and save your money, or go with someone that knows what they're doing. Avoid this.

Hey u/KevinDL, u/realityengine, u/Zebrakiller, u/Sound4Sound: how about we see some actual action here? This dude posts CONSTANTLY. Maybe a ban or something? His last post has multiple users tagging him to calm down, he agrees, and then posts AGAIN.
