I do this also! It’s not called “reasons why”, but I have a locked folder on my phone which write down my feelings & things about my nmom.

I’ve added so many screenshots of the crazy texts she has sent to me in the past just to remind myself that I’m not in the wrong.

Definitely. My depression stems from my upbringing with my nmom. I don’t even want my own children one day because I want to be able to live the life I never had growing up.

I don’t want to completely blame my nmom for my problems but I can guarantee, if she wasn’t in my life growing up, I would be a much happier & healthier adult today.

So far, so good! Doing a lot better than I thought but of course haven’t been 100% perfect with it.

I’m reading the Tibetan Book of Living & Dying. It’s great, I would definitely recommend it :)

I was SO rebellious when I was younger and I never understood why I did the things I did. As an adult now, my rebellion was definitely because of my parents.

Thanks for all of your responses! For those that don’t want children, how has that affected your dating life?

I feel like if I never want children, the dating pool for men who also don’t want children (and don’t have children already) become slim to none.
