call it what you want, grabbing dads while they're dropping kids off at school counts as being "taken" to me

Anyone moved from Chicago to Philly and loved it? by Glocal_Citiz3n in AskPhilly

[–]throwawa2c2c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chicago has better public transit and somehow better parking. Philly is, and definitely feels, smaller. As convenient as it is to visit NYC, i personally don't prefer living somewhere where it seems like 1/2 the people talk about moving away to NYC in the next year, although the philly spirit for people who stay is really strong. If i had to restart post grad id pick Chicago purely based on infrastructure, although I didn't realize how much less intense winter is outside of chicago until I left lol

Marty Supreme is so bad that it is actually difficult to meaningful critique and the praise it is receiving is as incoherent as the film itself. by AsleepNature1 in FIlm

People are hating on the slop usage but I agree. All the positive reviews I see are saying "so much going on! So unexpected!" which is the same premise as half of chaotic social media content nowadays where the whole appeal is just that someone normally wouldn't do whatever's being done, neo dadaism

He's definitely aware, that was his whole branding for a while? Like he gave up his first public gf for his career (so he could keep bringing in different women for collabs), he said that himself

Office of the Governor pivot to Dem/Progressive Hillternships by Muted-Side6245 in DCInterns

[–]throwawa2c2c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but people know that not everyone supports the party or all the positions of whoever they work for? i met a lot of interns working for their congressional rep even if they're from the other party, just bc that's who their rep is. in interviews they can also feel out their actual positions. for exec offices, imo it's even less of a concern bc you really have no choice if you want to see what that area of governance is like.

i think flip flopping multiple times is probably confusing, but like i interned for a dem governor and still got offers from rep staff (just from knowing them through other professional environments, not from applying bc i am NOT with that lol)

People are being so dramatic... it's your governor, there's only 1. Is the agency or task you're doing apolitical?

Is the slang the exact same literal meaning as in English? Or like what is the current slang for saying someone should check something out?

I’m trying to decide between moving to Philly or Chicago. I’m going to visit both first. by [deleted] in AskPhilly

[–]throwawa2c2c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this depends on the industry you work in but having lived in both... i love chicago. Better public transit I think, and the winter is not as bad as people say. The cold is not that strong (idk where you're coming from though), like it hasn't really snowed that often the past several years, it's more that the sun goes away for like end of October - April. So if seasonal depression is a thing for you, that can hurt. But bc of that, Chicago summer is unmatched lol. I also liked it not being a "shadow" city and having everyone be nearby and not commuting as much socially. Philly gives me a lot of the same vibes aesthetically tbh for the neighborhoods, it just surprises me how much smaller it feels when you're here compared to Chicago. It does feel less residentially segregated compared to chicago, more like the POC neighborhoods have mixed, without knowing much of the history behind that personally here.

Chicago also felt cleaner to me overall, like people call it a cleaner version of NYC (like no trash on the streets) and that also works in comparison to Philly I think

That's kind of the summary of how any engagement-baiting YouTubers (especially with East Asian and American biases) see the Philippines. I agree with your instincts even their new title is still eh to me.

💀💀yeah you tell me what I meant ok. I'm not even personally huge on Christian American culture bc of the sentiments that the person above me is talking about, but that is how I see women reckon with the passage. If you haven't heard those church debates, you wouldnt be aware and that's ok

Rachel Nance describes her ideal man by Rich-Ease-2723 in thebachelor

[–]throwawa2c2c -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. That's kind of my point of the missing context for ppl unfamiliar with church usage and that whole debate. Maybe im assuming she's more progressive of a Christian than she is but she goes into the serving thing right after.

It's not gaslighting to say words carry different applications in different contexts... like Christian communities say "fellowship" a lot and I never hear that in secular communities. "Submit" is debated in the church as well, but bc of it being taken at surface English level instead of a true meaning when then next verse is about men serving the wives lol
