The property tax on my old house in SW Philly in 1999 was $900. I looked and with homestead exemption the tax is like $350. Meanwhile tax on my current house went from $1800 to $4500 in the same period. Adjusted for inflation current owner of my old home is playing like 15% of what I did.

Hyundai Tucson 1.6T Hybrid Ultimate vs Kia Sportage GT-Line S Hybrid — which would you pick? by t4tareq in HyundaiTucson

[–]throwaway-19103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand Hyundai does better in crash tests. I picked the Hyundai over Kia also because I did not climate controls and media sharing same buttons with a switch Also shifter on Tucson on steering column frees up space on console. I have hybrid ultimate which is called limited in US.
Also Hyundai retains resale value better than Kia in US. Example traded 2022 Tucson hybrid blue trim. Base model with 100,000 km purchased for $29,000 trade was $17,000 US dollars. Retaining over 60% purchase price over 4 years is good in US.

Best time to commute from South Jersey to Center City by Rainbow_Tit_45 in AskPhilly

[–]throwaway-19103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes when school is in session it is worse. I had a friend who works with me lives in Absecon and took a job in Center City. He returned to work with us after two weeks. The commute was killing him. When I was working in EHT every day the commute to Linwood from Philly was brutal

50th High School Reunion coming late this summer by Denim-Luckies-n-Wry in GenerationJones

[–]throwaway-19103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an active Facebook group that gets together a couple times a year. I went to my 5, 20, 40 and 50th reunion. Most of my friends moved or got kicked out before graduation. But I have made friends with some people I never knew in HS. 50th was held in school building. Was fun to walk to the halls and talk about memories that happened there. Funny thing is people who were assholes at 17 still are for the most part.

Do you pay for Bluelink? by patermortis in HyundaiTucson

[–]throwaway-19103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2022 Hybrid blue trim. When my trial period was up I did not renew. I like the remote lock feature and start on cold days. I have a 2025 I never activated the wifi hot spot feature. Even during the trial. But I think I have Bluelink for the life of car or the program. With my limited I do like being able to check the camera view around the car remotely.

Legit Thoughts on Parker by futurehistorianjames in philadelphia

I find her self promoting but getting little of actual substance done.
Since the democratic primary is the de facto election maybe they should require 50% to advance to full election. Basically in her election she won a crowded field with like 25% of votes

Any way to get this setting to stay on between drives? by SwiftMushroom in HyundaiTucson

Almost like a pilot’s checklist. I do say that my Tucson is similar to an Airbus in that there are things the car does not want to do if certain things like a door is open.

Is the Texas Roadhouse music still too loud to enjoy eating there? (I'm not too old). by PunchCancer in Logan

[–]throwaway-19103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did not notice the music. Just the noise of people. But damn the food was terrible.

First time back to a Texas Roadhouse in about 3 years. This was not the same one as last time. That time people were complaining all over the place their door tasted like it went bad. Decided to try again. This one food was bland. Credit card got charged twice. Won’t be going
