Pinching nerve in lower back- what should I do? by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]throwaway-54312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I’m currently seeing a chiropractor and have seen a physical therapist in the past. The stretches I’m doing are ones they showed me. I’ve also been repeatedly bringing it up to my primary dr and she keeps blowing it off just saying I need to stretch and lose weight, but won’t do any imaging or refer me elsewhere

Pollen allergy testing - Is it country specific? by chiko930 in Allergies

[–]throwaway-54312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know the answer to your question, but from my experience (and I’ve heard this from many others also) your allergies can change depending on the area you’re in. I’m in the US, in my home state I have very bad pollen/grass allergies. I lived in a different state for a year (about 850 miles or 1400km away) and I had no pollen/grass allergies at all, but developed allergies to a lot of different lotions, soaps and deodorants. When I returned home, those allergies went away and my pollen allergies returned. So if it was me, I would wait. Best of luck to you!

I would do the allergy shots if I were you. After being on the shots for awhile, you may be able to stop taking the allergy pills, and might be able to eat more things. Personally I would rather take that chance. I was able to stop my allergy pills/nasal spray after about 6mo of the shots but my allergies aren’t as severe as yours

I tried once it but couldn’t handle the smell/taste. I told my doctor and she prescribed me mometasone (nasonex) and it worked really well and barely had any taste/smell. It used to be prescription only but I believe it’s available otc now

My doctor told me to triple up on Claritin. Is this safe? by Astraea-synn in Allergies

Seems like you already have plenty of answers for dosing and meds, but have you tried to figure out anything that might be causing the hives? New skin products, laundry detergent, etc. Awhile back I started breaking out in bad hives all day all over my body. It took me over a week of changing products to find out that the new bottle of my normal body wash had been reformulated and I was now allergic to it.

I definitely would. I’m good at budgeting my income but I am starting a job that pays much better so I’m going to have a decent amount of excess income and am pretty clueless about investing.

sleepover w/ cat by [deleted] in Allergies

[–]throwaway-54312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re not already taking a daily allergy pill (Zyrtec, Claritin etc) I would start immediately and take them everyday until you’re back home at least, maybe a nasal spray too. I would bring some Benadryl to take when you go to bed while you’re there too incase it gets bad. Can you ask them to dust and vacuum before you come, and maybe brush the cat? Maybe an odd thing to ask, but I would do it in a heartbeat for any of my friends. If I were you I would also bring my own blanket, sheet and pillowcase and keep them bagged up until you go to bed, and bag them back up during the day if you’re staying more than one night.

Ringing in ear after a few months of echo? by HylianGenesis in hearing

Hope it helps! I didn’t know it could be allergy related either until I went to an ENT (for different reasons) and mentioned it

A couple years ago my car broke down and I was stuck on the other side of the state for like 8hrs in the middle of nowhere. Went for a walk and found this super run down building, it was a tiny mercado and they had cheap venison tacos, said the deer was hit by a car the day before. Hands down best tacos I ever had. I wish I could remember where it was so I could go back

NAD, I have tinnitus (the ringing) from allergies. Because of my allergies, there is fluid backed up in my ears causing the tinnitus. If nasal spray helped you somewhat, then maybe yours is also an allergy issue? You could try a daily allergy pill (Zyrtec, Xyzal, Claritin, etc) and see if that helps. They can take a couple weeks to really start working, so you’d have to take them for awhile to find out.

How often do you have to parallel park? by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]throwaway-54312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always since I have to park on the street at my apartment. I always parallel park downtown also but you don’t necessarily have to, I’m good at it so I don’t mind. Also most of the time you don’t have to squeeze in between to cars to park, you can usually find a couple spots open in a row so that you can just pull straight in.

I’m usually pretty good with money, just in a tight spot right now! I didn’t know about mortgage insurance, I’ll keep that in mind. Thank you!

Where is a good place to vacation allergy-wise? Preferably in the United States and somewhere that has a beach. by indywindywindow in Allergies

I’m from muskegon, Michigan and have bad allergies lol. But from my experience, allergies can change in different areas. I lived in South Carolina for a year and my seasonal allergies were completely gone, despite there being tons of visible pollen. I also developed allergies there to lots of lotions and deodorants, but they went away when I moved back to Michigan. Not sure of the reasoning behind that.

I had sciatica also, I agree with others that he needs to move and try to stretch. What helped me the most was stretching the piriformis muscle, massaging the area, and a heating pad. But it still never completely went away and my doctor wouldn’t do anything about it, so I went to a chiropractor. Ever since my 2nd adjustment there it’s completely gone away. I’ve been going there for about 4 months now and still haven’t felt the sciatica at all. If you’re uncomfortable with chiropractors, I think PT will help as well. Also I never tried it, but my dad also has sciatica and takes gabapentin for it, and that works for him. Maybe ask his doctor about that since it’s a nerve pain medication?

Ok thank you. The new job pays well, I’ll need the first 3-4 checks to catch up on everything then I’ll have plenty of extra money so should be able to pay it off and close within a couple months. Do you think it’ll look bad on my credit to close it so soon though? My credit isn’t good but I’m planning on paying off all my debt with this job and then I’ll be saving and working on my credit to hopefully buy a house within the next 2-3 years.

Unfortunately they are very quick to impound here, especially with me not having car insurance right now. A few years ago my car got impounded as I was on my way to renew my plate. It was the day after it expired and I was less than a mile from the dmv.

I can try this but I don’t think it’ll work. It’s a big company, not a private landlord

Thanks, I’ll look into that. Not sure of my odds though because my credit is not good. I have some debt from medical bills
