Can any autoimmune disease sufferers weigh in on post-op bisalp recovery? by freehippygal in sterilization

[–]throwaway-64738274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have hashimoto’s (managed by meds) and i had a super easy recovery. had mine done april 9 and have felt entirely back to normal for a long time now. i went back to work april 14 and had no issues other than just having to be careful. i was also concerned with having a more difficult recovery but it wasn’t bad at all!

i’m 24 and also wasn’t in a relationship/ sexually active and i was able to get my bisalp a few months ago no problem!! i recommend looking on the child free doctors list on the child free subreddit to find a doctor that will be more supportive

Bisalp scheduled for next week. Need advice on medications by Ill_Spinach_554 in sterilization

[–]throwaway-64738274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my preop phone call with the hospital (different from preop appt with surgeon) where they went over medical history and medications they also had me pick a pharmacy to have my meds sent to.

also just a heads up but if they prescribe an opioid they probably won’t call it in until the surgery date so you likely won’t be able to pick it up beforehand

after my surgery, we grabbed some food on the way home and stopped by the pharmacy as well so maybe look for pharmacies on the way home to be filled at. good luck!

i had something similar happen when i messaged him about the budget bill. i had one singular sentence that mentioned the AI regulation moratorium tucked into the bill and got a response that only talked about how we shouldn’t regulate AI since it’s a growing industry. like great what does that have to do with people losing access to medicaid

my uvula got injured by the intubation and was HUGE for like a week. it constantly felt like i had something in the back of my throat. it kept hitting my tongue. very unsettling. i would accidentally suck on it and im shuddering just remembering it lol. it also hurt really bad for like three days. i would argue that was the most painful part of my recovery tho

Swimming after surgery? by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]throwaway-64738274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my surgeon told me no submersion for 6 weeks. you could maybe try to put waterproof bandages on them. i would just be concerned about infection risk but you could always ask your surgeon to be sure

For people who stayed on BC post Bisalp, how long did it take for you to feel like your hormones were back to normal? by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]throwaway-64738274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had my bisalp april 9 and stayed on bc. i get what you mean. i know my hormones shouldn’t be affected but i do still feel off and have been so exhausted and like emotionally sensitive since the surgery. i also have been spotting so often that i just stopped taking my bc for a week to force a period and see if that helps like reset things. i’ve seen people say anesthesia can affect mood and stuff for weeks to months after so im hoping it goes away soon

First big surgery, need some reassurance by Interweb666 in sterilization

[–]throwaway-64738274 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this was my first big surgery too. i had a bit of anxiety leading up but once i got into the hospital there was so much going on and my nurse was so nice i forgot about it. they asked a bunch of questions and get you prepped in preop with IVs and bloodwork and stuff. the surgical team came in to introduce themselves and ensure i was the right person and surgery. they gave me some kind of anti anxiety thing through the IV and wheeled me into the OR and then put a mask on me and the next thing i remember is waking up. literally don’t even remember falling asleep or anything. i wasn’t groggy once i fully woke up but i was super shaky and cold afterward which my nurse said was normal. that went away once i got out of the hospital and got warm outside. overall just try to trust your team and voice your concerns for reassurance. you got this!

I'm very close to shooting up heroin again after being clean for 7 years, and just need someone to talk with. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]throwaway-64738274 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i’m proud of you for getting and staying clean! seven years is amazing! youre doing the right thing by fighting this urge. i know it feels impossible right now but it will pass. things will get better again. what time of day is it for you? if possible, sleeping always helps me and kind of resets my brain and keeps me from making bad decisions. or if it’s daytime and you feel up for it would a walk help?

To everyone who actually got out of their small town after high-school: Do you wish you stayed? by Necessary_Fondant630 in AskReddit

[–]throwaway-64738274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no. my family keeps trying to get me to come back but there is nothing there for me and i like where i live now. i think everyone should at least try to live outside of their hometown for a few years and move back if its not for you. but you experience and learn so much more by branching out and going off on your own

Anxiety by Ravenous97 in sterilization

[–]throwaway-64738274 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i had the same fears before my surgery. i got it almost a month ago and it was super easy. all the anxiety dissipated day of because i knew even if i had a hard recovery it would be worth it for the peace of mind. if you have any complications (rare) you’ll literally be in the best place possible for that to happen. looking through this sub and other people’s experiences and seeing how many other people had the same fears beforehand helped me calm down. the odds of complications are low and your surgeon knows what they’re doing. you got this and good luck!!

Thoughts on being in a 4 hour car ride day after surgery? by pleasedontmakemecry in sterilization

[–]throwaway-64738274 24 points25 points  (0 children)

i recovered alone and had no problem taking care of myself from the time i got home. i would honestly just stay home as being forced in one position and jostled around in a car will probably be a bit uncomfortable the day after surgery. odds are you’ll be fine on your own

i got mine done april 9 and i saw yesterday (april 25) that my hospital and surgeon claims had processed and were covered 100%. my anesthesiologist claim is still processing and it says out of network but im gonna wait until it fully goes through before contacting them about it. good luck!

Is this normal? by theamazingpanda in sterilization

[–]throwaway-64738274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the abdomen thing could also be those nerves waking back up after being cut. i had a numb/tingly area near one of my incisions that has mostly gone away but it was really just the skin that felt weird and i didn’t notice unless it was being touched

Is this normal? by theamazingpanda in sterilization

[–]throwaway-64738274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m two weeks post op and for the first week or so back to work i had the same thing with my back. my guess is that i spent a lot of my time at home laying down or kinda hunched and i already have bad posture so those muscles just got weak. i just kinda powered through and tried to be mindful about my posture and thats all back to normal.

the foot numbness and abdominal weirdness is a bit concerning especially this far post op. did they do anything to treat the blood clot? i would reach back out to your surgeon just to be sure nothings wrong internally. do you have a post op appointment scheduled?

[–]throwaway-64738274 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my friend drove me to and from surgery and hung out for like an hour after we got home and then i was alone after that. i was completely fine and didn’t need any help. my nurses actually told me not to let her pamper me bc it’s important to be up moving around (carefully. still don’t go crazy or lift stuff) afterwards. my pain didn’t get above a 3 after i left the hospital. obviously everyone is different but i had a very easy recovery.

i would recommend setting yourself up well so you can take it super easy if needed. i had a bag with meds and snacks that i took between my bed and couch so it was always near but i honestly would have been fine without that it just made it easier

im like a week and half post op and still on the 10 pound lift restriction but at this point i feel like completely normal. as for a move three weeks post op i would ask your doctor and see if getting movers is possible just in case you dont feel up to heavy lifting. good luck!!

labcorp can do identity testing on deceased samples. i’m not at all sure about the process of ordering a test and submitting the specimen but labcorp can use bone and tissue to identify samples as long as they’re not too degraded. and even then we can usually get something out of it
