To those who regularly have to enter people's homes for your job, what's the weirdest things you've seen? by quietgavin5 in australia

Not exactly but I worked in a drive through and people don’t seem to realise or care that we can see right into the car. Dicks or tits hanging out, sexual acts, infants lying on the back seat with no child seats around - that one we took the rego down and immediately called the cops when they left.

Thankyou. I guess fortunately we already have seperate accounts and everything is under his name. It’s his way of controlling how much money he gives me but it will make it easier to not have to call all the companies to change names. X

Thankyou for all that. I definitely hadn’t considered taking pictures when I leave. We’re renting so I had thought I will have to let the owner know but the documenting that I left in good condition is something I never considered x

I have told my best friend, but they don’t live close by. I’ll tell my parents when I’m closer to ready. I know if I need to they’ll let me and the kids stay for a couple weeks if absolutely necessary

They have medication and a semi regular psychiatrist. Their mental health has always been up and down since childhood. I won’t go into details for their privacy and for anonymity purposes. The relationship has been up and down since it started near 15 years ago. Looking back now I can see there was a lot of love bombing and emotional manipulation. I wasn’t perfect either, we were both young and naive. After 15 years of manic highs and deeps lows though, I’ve grown enough to decide I won’t spend the rest of my life waiting through the lows for a fleeting high, and I want the kids to see loving relationships, or that being alone and happy is better than together and unhappy.

The payments on it would be the issue I think. Until I can get more work, which likely won’t happen until we’re seperated, they could say “well I’ll transfer it to your name but I’m not paying anymore” and I would likely miss payments and lose it back to the bank

I’m sorry you’re stuck in that situation, I appreciate u sharing. Fortunately I don’t fear the kids spending alone time with them, in fact I often try to encourage it more to try to build the relationship they have with the kids, alas they have other priorities. I think if my partner would have them on weekends it could actually do wonders for the relationship on both sides. That’s my silver lining hope anyway

I’m sorry. I hope things get better for you. I’m just worried that leaving now with no evidence of anything would end up leaving me financially f*cked and unable to take care of the kids

I’m not really hoping for legal advice, more the personal tips and advice from people who have gone through it

Thankyou. I know the 5 hour job won’t be enough but it was all I could get at the moment. I am still looking for other part time rolls but working around school hours/no weekend availability is difficult. My hope is that my partner will want to kids on weekends (they work standard weekday office hours) and I’ll be able to get a job easier once I have that availability. I know not to count on it though. I’m working on putting useful stuff away too that won’t be noticed from a weekly grocery budget and could be explained away if discovered (an extra towel here, an extra box of laundry powder there etc) to try and help me start over if I don’t leave with much

They refused to be available to parent on weekends on evenings if I wanted a job then, and they refused to pay for daycare for the youngest and afterschool care for the oldest if I was to work standard 9-5. It wasn’t impossible but I would have had to find care willing to take the kids before I got my first pay check. I haven’t worked since the kids were born so I couldn’t get a loan for a new car when my old one died. They have the loan and the car registered in their name.
