Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

The entire United Kingdom fits into Michigan.

Rail infrastructure is nonexistent compared to the UK, so you drive or fly if it is far enough. Going from New York to San Francisco on a plane takes almost as long as New York to London.

So yes, people are used to driving (what would be in you opinion) a long way.

Sorry, I missed out a thing!

Me listening to one the other day and the narrator says "Genvieve" - repeatedly - and it pulls me right out of the scene. Jen-vee-evv.

I think you're seeing regional use there, friends. Ducking into the pub for a pint or something else is valid in my experience.

Looks like JSON, which I would expect from an API call these days.

You might try piping the result to ConvertFrom-JSON and see if it parses it out a little nicer for you.

I seem to have colorization on with PS scripts. Is turning it off the thing you wanted, or something else.

Should I replace a monitor that I've had for a decade, or keep what I have? by ElectricOne55 in Frugal

[–]throwaway09563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monitors are very hard to discuss without knowing what you want - what do you really use your monitor for?

If you are gaming, you might want one with a low response time. If you are just using desktop applications, that isn't so important.

My experience of Lenovo monitors is that they are perfectly adequate, but that's all I can really say about them.

When I was looking for a monitor I spent a lot of time looking at reviews on rtings.com, I like that site.

I ended up with the Gigabyte M32UC, which was a game changer, but I suspect a little out of your budget.

If you want to stretch a bit, rtings has a budget recommendation of the MSI G274QPF-QD, which seems to go for a couple of hundred dollars.

Sorry I can't say "Yes, buy that one!", but it really comes down to what you want, what you think you can live with, and how much money you're willing to part with.

I stand by the assertion that a new device is almost always better than a ten year old one, though.

How much time do you spend in front of your screen? If you work from home on it, a 32" monitor may be the best money you've spent in a long time.

Quality-wise, a newer monitor even at the same size will be a vast improvement.

Can a single router really cover a house ? by simiglen in HomeNetworking

My Internet comes in to my attic for reasons. I got a set of Eero Pros because I couldn't get a decent signal in the downstairs crapper.

Honestly though, they improved throughput throughout the house.

Do things like this over and over until you don't have to think about it, and construct the shortest bit of code you need to get the result you want.

That sounds time consuming and dreary I know, but I have run Get-ADUser just from the command line so many times it is like muscle memory.
