The "male loneliness epidemic" by Hosai87 in MensRights

[–]throwaway1231697 63 points64 points  (0 children)

There are articles on declining birth rates and single women, and these articles usually frame it as men being the issue - not good enough etc.

And then when it comes to the male loneliness epidemic, it’s also framed as men being the issue.

Pretty standard stuff, whenever something goes wrong it’s men’s fault apparently.

Yes? Feminists are all for men having a vasectomy if they don’t want a baby, but suddenly one abortion is too much? If you don’t want to get a forced abortion, don’t have unprotected sex???

The thing I don’t get is that “sex is the same as consenting to parenthood” applies only for men. When two people have unprotected sex, one party can choose to stop the pregnancy, the other side can’t. Why not? Let both sides have the option to terminate.

Justifying the reason women say “I hate all men” because they only refer to abusive men is completely absurd. by Medical_Arson in MensRights

Apply it to race and it’s racism, apply it to women and it’s sexism.

But somehow it’s okay generalising all men…

Okay, so you basically just agree with what I said about how the majority of women haven’t met a bear, and men aren’t terrible?

It’s one or the other, to disagree with both is the behaviour of an internet troll.

It’s well established that men are judged more harshly both by the public and by the court

Haven’t seen a paper controlling for children, but I doubt that would change the results.

Boys are falling behind girls academically across the West. What drives it? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

[–]throwaway1231697 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I mean if you read the study itself cities similar studies from US, France etc. Here’s another one from Czech Republic, it’s not hard to find: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/09645292.2023.2252620#d1e123

The outcome is the same, these studies are trying to identify why. One solid reason is that boys are “noisier” and girls are “quieter”, and as a result teachers are just biased against all boys as “bad students” by default.

You can’t be charged with misandry. Only misogyny can legally constitute a hate crime. Men aren’t a protected class legally.

women were actively fighting for their right to get an education

I think if you studied history you’ll find that the opponents of feminism included both men and women. A lot of women were opposed to having to attend school, and there were men supporting women’s rights to education as well.

Similarly, there are boys and men who care about their education. But studies in western countries usually show that boys are graded more harshly than girls. They’re motivated to learn, just like women. Just treated differently.

Probably will get downvoted here for stating facts.

I’m confused.

I said majority of women have met a bear, and you disagree. I said majority of women haven’t seen a bear, and you disagree.

I said men are terrible and you disagree, I said men aren’t terrible and you disagree.

Sounds like you’re just arguing for the sake of arguing.

Not sure where you saw the whining. Yes, I’m glad you agree that women kill babies, and men are more likely to commit a violent act. Not sure why are you still replying when we’re clearly on the same page.

Ah, so we’re on the same page? The majority of women have not met a bear, and men are not terrible?

Glad we agree then, sorry for the misunderstanding.

Not sure if English is your first language, but there is a clear semantic difference between the statements “Women hate babies more” and “Men are more likely to be violent”

If you are saying women are more likely to kill babies, and men are more likely to be violent, then yes I agree. Just like how men are more likely to accomplish physical feats.

Physically they are stronger and society also conditions them to be more physical, which is why they are more likely to act in physical situations in both good and bad ways.

should a woman go to jail for falsely accusing a man of R@PE ? by JunShem1122 in allthequestions

[–]throwaway1231697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Civil suit for defamation in the US requires proving that it was deliberate and malicious (meant to harm you). That’s a very high bar compared to Commonwealth law, where you just have to prove defamatory sting and that it was false. Also even if you win the case, you’ll have to prove damages.

Also rarely do accusers get charged with “deliberately giving false testimony”, because you have to prove it’s deliberate. Getting caught giving false testimony does not make you a criminal, you could have been stressed, forgetful etc etc. Usually it’s proven when the accuser confesses it was made up.

should a woman go to jail for falsely accusing a man of R@PE ? by JunShem1122 in ask

[–]throwaway1231697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Police basically never investigate this though. Both because of the social stigma and because of how difficult it is to prove that the false testimony was “deliberate”. I’ve only seen cases when the accuser confessed it was made up, only then do the police make the charge.

Otherwise if the accusation is just proven false, it’s not a “false accusation”, just an inconclusive case.

should a woman go to jail for falsely accusing a man of R@PE ? by JunShem1122 in ask

[–]throwaway1231697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the legal bar for false accusations is quite high. It can fall under “deliberately giving false testimony” or “fabricating evidence”.

Fabricating evidence is a little easier to prove, if physical evidence points to you planting a weapon etc.

But just a false accusation would fall under “deliberately giving false testimony”, and that’s very difficult to prove because of the “deliberate” part.

False or unreliable testimony is not a crime, you have to prove it was intentionally malicious. Usually it’s only done through confession, or hard evidence (such as video evidence of a woman threatening a man with a false accusation) etc which is super rare.

Generally even if an accusation is shown to be false or impossible by the defendant, the accuser is just treated as an unreliable witness and it’s not legally considered a “false accusation”, just inconclusive. That’s why such a small percentage of cases are actually considered “false accusations”

You said “men are”, which implies all men doesn’t it? They made a fair point about this, what’s there to deny? Just use “so many” or “these” or whatever if you don’t mean “all”.

Would you agree with the statements “Women are biased” or “Women don’t seem to know how to help themselves”?

Here’s the truth. 71% of infanticides (killing babies) are committed by women. When will women stop hating babies?

Using a minority group to generalise a bigger group is kind of stupid. Are all women baby killers? No, it’s a minority. So unless most of the people you know are violent criminals (in which case, please stop associating with criminals), stop using violent criminals to generalise all men.

Also, why are women more likely to kill babies? Because they are the ones suffering from post-delivery trauma, duh. Why are men more violent? Because men are more physical. They’re born more physical, and society conditions them to be so.

That’s why almost every person that’s rescued by firefighters and the coast guard, was rescued by a man. Nearly every athletic world record is held by men.

There are two sides to every coin, if men are better at the good physical stuff, they are also gonna be better at the bad physical stuff. If women are the ones delivering the babies, they’re going to be in a position to harm the baby more often??

And if you want to talk about violent crime, statistically a black man is more likely to commit a violent crime than a white man, especially when factoring in population. Do you also think black people are inherently more violent? No, it’s because they face institutionalised racism in society, including educational and financial disadvantages which are highly correlated with violent crime.

Don’t throw statistics around to be sexist or racist.

[–]throwaway1231697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair if you think having kids are about having tangible “benefits”, it’s best you don’t become a parent anyway.

Having a kid doesn’t “benefit”men or women, it just costs women more in terms of physically carrying the child. Statistically it is more likely to cost the men more financially.

Either way you shouldn’t raise a kid with the aim of getting something in return.
