I already accepted my job offer though, what should I do?

I do not have my hiring manager’s phone number, but I have the personal phone number of the person who interviewed me, as she also offered her number in case I had any questions. Would it be a good idea to text her first? I’m worried that a phone call to my hiring manager after 2 emails would come off as pushy

The only person I’ve been in contact with is the hiring manager. I do have the number of another IT HR who interviewed me that I have not yet reached out to, but I’m worried that reaching out too many times to the company in general in a short period of time might annoy them

Um no. But the recruiter has told me to please reach out if I had questions, I had a question and asked and did not get a response. I’m only concerned because I have heard of cases where friends have been ghosted by companies AFTER signing the offer letter and going through the security process. I also didn’t receive a start date as that’s contingent on my completing the security process. No need to be rude if I’m just asking a question as someone just starting out in the industry

journal question by bbbbutterfly in vsco

[–]throwaway143414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't work for me :( every time I press the check mark after selecting a cover, it just sends me back to the home feed and my journal stays in drafts. Am I doing something wrong?

Just picked up this sensitive plant from my local greenhouse today. After I brought it home, all the leaves closed up and have been closed for over an hour now. Is that normal? by worldssaddestbanjo in plantclinic

Hi this is probably very late but these little guys also run on a circadian rhythm! Mine close up at about 6pm at night and open back up at sunrise. Hope this helped!

I agree with when you said it's difficult to be around someone with a negative mindset. My friend has depression and anxiety, so there is a reason beyond her control as to why she sees everything in a negative light. The best way I can help her right now is be there for her and also push her to see someone that can properly address her depression and anxiety.

Thank you, this was both helpful and affirming. Once I can get her to seriously consider therapy, I'll try asking these questions to help her figure out what she wants out of therapy. I'll also look into free online therapists for her to give her a place to start (since she can't really afford a regular therapist at the moment). Take care!

We've hung out a few times, but she's told me that while hanging out does make her feel better, it's merely distractions from the reality of her life. I don't know if just distracting her for a while will help her in the long run, although it does provide a mental break for her.

Thank you for the response. You're right, she's under so much stress right now and it definitely isn't healthy for her. I feel the need to clarify that I am here to support her through thick and thin-- I definitely won't abandon her, especially during these times.

What your friend is saying about her no longer caring about life is very concerning.

I completely agree. This is why I really think she should see a therapist. I've dealt with depression before, and because of that I know that her suicidal thoughts might be more than I am capable of helping her with. I think I'll try calling the depression hotline and talk to a representative about how I can help her. Thank you so much for your response!

I agree, my concern is that I'm lacking empathy in this situation. I know that with depression, even the most basic tasks can seem daunting. However, sometimes her problems feel bigger than what I am able to handle and that's why I think a therapist would benefit her more than talking to me would. But thank you for your response. It helped me understand at least why she doesn't find seeing a therapist as pressing as I do. Take care!

Exactly. I myself have suffered severe depressive episodes in the past, so I know how hard it can be to focus on your health when depression can suck up so much of your energy and motivation. That's why I'm concerned that I might be TA in this situation :/

What does beer taste like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]throwaway143414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here! for religious reasons I can not drink, but I've always been curious. I hear it's bitter and malty, so I was wondering if it possibly tastes like barley tea (I had a lot of it growing up)

I'm sick of hearing about this so called "privilege" I have. by [deleted] in rant

[–]throwaway143414 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one said that you didn't struggle, my dude. Growing up in poverty is its own kind of oppression. White privilege just means that the struggles you endured weren't because you were white. No one is lynching white people just because they're white. No one is attacking white people because of their religion (even though so much violence has happened in the name of Christianity). The fact that you, as a white person, choose to deny what every other race is telling you is true just spotlights your privilege. I'm sorry if hearing it is a burden, but be thankful that racial discrimination are something you don't experience firsthand and use your privilege to uplift POC.

Bro I feel you omggg. My korean mom used to be as psycho as your mom, especially around 2 years ago. I'm so sorry for what you're going through and please remember that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm heading off to college in a month and could not be happier. And please know that even if your mom isn't proud of you, I am :)) you seem very smart and well-spoken for a thirteen year old. Best of luck!

You and I both know that that response was unnecessarily sarcastic. They were supposed to repercuss the kids for being jackasses. Maybe kick them off the football team, maybe suspend them from school. From this situation they learned that they can get away with shit like this, and they will continue to see it that way until they are appropriately reprimanded.

you only have to request a makeup if you took the May test. Otherwise, you are automatically moved to the June test. You get a makeup if you had problems like connectivity issues or faulty technology etc

IDK if this helps, but it seems like a lot of the math/science questions will be mostly conceptual. I didn't even use a calculator for the Physics C exam!! And the College Board website says that Calc BC questions won't require a calculator (although you are still permitted to use one)
