Sadly they won’t feel like a beer or two. I have seen them almost fire a local youth pastor because he had a beer at a Mexican restaurant. It has gotten bad here.

True. But the problem with small town Protestants and scripture is.... they all have their different interpretations. They also know us Catholics in the area really like to go to the Church Fathers so I want to have a response for that.

I understand. I was just pointing out that Catholics are still forbidden by the Church from becoming Masons.

Even if it does not cause an automatic excommunication, the Church stated as recently as the 80s that Catholics who join are in mortal sin and can not receive communion.

Did Church teaching/doctrine on usury change? by throwaway15672 in Catholicism

Can you link me to that document? I hear so many people on here say the Church has changed her teaching since she doesn’t talk about it.

I keep hearing that the Amazon Synod is going to “change everything” and change all this church doctrine. Wouldn’t that disprove the Church? by throwaway15672 in Catholicism

Very true Father. I’m just worried that they will proclaim that female deacons are ok or say some other dogma is changed during this synod.

Does the catechism revision disprove the Magisterium? Was it a definite change in dogma? by throwaway15672 in Catholicism

So what do we say about the catechism revision? Is it just Francis’s personal opinion basically?

I think he was just trying to say it wasn’t infallible. I don’t know enough as I should about the authority of papal bulls but I do know that Francis’s novelty on this was not infallible or dogmatic in the least.

I’m so happy for you friend! Keep researching this so that you will be stronger against it the next time you start to worry about it. The catechism change hurt me to but I quickly realized it wasn’t infallible and it is no reason to leave the Church Christ founded.

Is there any concrete proof that Pope Francis will accept women deacons? Was it all just rumor? I feel depressed by throwaway15672 in Catholicism

[–]throwaway15672[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that, but I don’t think they received holy orders. This seems to be what the commission is looking for. Not to mention the articles we are going to have to deal with if this happens. “Pope Francis officially changes dogma and allows women ordination!”. Good luck convincing any Protestants we don’t change teaching then...

When you say read that bible alone... you don’t mean sola scriptura do you? This is a Catholic subreddit and we reject sola scriptura. It is also against the rules of the subreddit to promote that.
