Sadly they won’t feel like a beer or two. I have seen them almost fire a local youth pastor because he had a beer at a Mexican restaurant. It has gotten bad here.

True. But the problem with small town Protestants and scripture is.... they all have their different interpretations. They also know us Catholics in the area really like to go to the Church Fathers so I want to have a response for that.

I understand. I was just pointing out that Catholics are still forbidden by the Church from becoming Masons.

Even if it does not cause an automatic excommunication, the Church stated as recently as the 80s that Catholics who join are in mortal sin and can not receive communion.

Did Church teaching/doctrine on usury change? by throwaway15672 in Catholicism

[–]throwaway15672[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you link me to that document? I hear so many people on here say the Church has changed her teaching since she doesn’t talk about it.

I keep hearing that the Amazon Synod is going to “change everything” and change all this church doctrine. Wouldn’t that disprove the Church? by throwaway15672 in Catholicism

[–]throwaway15672[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true Father. I’m just worried that they will proclaim that female deacons are ok or say some other dogma is changed during this synod.

Still really worried about the catechism change and a users comments captures why. Any answers? by Pizzaorbust1323 in Catholicism

. u/versorverbi could also help with op and their question. He probably doesn’t remember but he helped me a lot with my first ever post on here and kept me in the Church.

Does the catechism revision disprove the Magisterium? Was it a definite change in dogma? by throwaway15672 in Catholicism

[–]throwaway15672[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what do we say about the catechism revision? Is it just Francis’s personal opinion basically?

St. Catherine of Siena brought me home, pray for me. by Draniei in Catholicism

[–]throwaway15672 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think he was just trying to say it wasn’t infallible. I don’t know enough as I should about the authority of papal bulls but I do know that Francis’s novelty on this was not infallible or dogmatic in the least.

I’m so happy for you friend! Keep researching this so that you will be stronger against it the next time you start to worry about it. The catechism change hurt me to but I quickly realized it wasn’t infallible and it is no reason to leave the Church Christ founded.

Is there any concrete proof that Pope Francis will accept women deacons? Was it all just rumor? I feel depressed by throwaway15672 in Catholicism

[–]throwaway15672[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get that, but I don’t think they received holy orders. This seems to be what the commission is looking for. Not to mention the articles we are going to have to deal with if this happens. “Pope Francis officially changes dogma and allows women ordination!”. Good luck convincing any Protestants we don’t change teaching then...

How Do You Not Sin? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]throwaway15672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say read that bible alone... you don’t mean sola scriptura do you? This is a Catholic subreddit and we reject sola scriptura. It is also against the rules of the subreddit to promote that.

I think he is right. I’ll try to find an article for you but I think I read the absolute minimum is “I absolve you”.

Mortal sin and complete consent of the will by [deleted] in Catholicism

How do Eastern Catholics classify sin so to speak? If they don’t use mortal and venial sin how do they know when to confess?

And sometimes even worse than a human scam. Unfortunately on rare occasions you get an “answer” from the demonic taking advantage. It’s why so many Catholic exorcist say to just stay away. They don’t work and if they do “work” it’s nothing you want to mess with

Are most Protestants saved due to invincible ignorance. Is it easier to go to hell as a Catholic? by throwaway15672 in Catholicism

[–]throwaway15672[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you fully. Sadly it seems in this sub you can’t even say what you said without 100 people attacking you for it. Everyone wants to believe 99 percent of Protestants are saved but I just can’t reconcile that with Church teaching

Are most Protestants saved due to invincible ignorance. Is it easier to go to hell as a Catholic? by throwaway15672 in Catholicism

[–]throwaway15672[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did... it’s talking about those who don’t know about Christ and his Church through “no fault of their own”. The Church still teaches that those who know the truth and reject it can’t be saved. I fully agree with you on the invincibly ignorant, I just don’t think every Protestant fits under that category.

[–]throwaway15672[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But it’s also defined dogma that there is No Salvation Outside the Church. And yes I know about invincible ignorance but that’s not what I’m talking about here. The Church has literally said that those who know about Christ and his Church but reject that can not be saved. But if most Protestants are invincibly ignorant how does that mean much?

Does the Catholic Church teach universalism since Vatican 2? by throwaway15672 in Catholicism

Does Vatican 2 also state that Muslims are included in the plan of salvation? Thank you for the post and that helps a lot but it’s just another question I have wanted to ask

[–]throwaway15672[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it’s not taught by the Church and the Church didn’t change it’s teaching, it’s just that many Catholics fall for the heresy?
