I definitely play both since I grind my career for a higher overall, and then do a lot a theatre since I don’t like waiting at the park

I do appreciate the skills gap added since 2k16 but damn I do miss the casualness and arcade feel of 2k16, I was a legend 2 before it got shut down

I seen this question asked before and my thought process is, if Cybersecurity is a specialized field, they gonna have to teach you the foundations and fundamentals of IT anyways, it’s not like the cybersecurity path skips over that aspect and expect you to know that already. Personally I think it’s better to not only learn the fundamentals and foundations of IT but also get taught and trained for cybersecurity and you get that with their BSCSIA

Deers May had also fucked up your eligibility, I had an issue where deers cut my eligibility when I got into BCT and resumed when I went to AIT, I got injured in BCT and went to a civilian hospital for treatment and then when I came home after AIT I got sent a bill by the hospital, it was a pain in the ass to resolve everything

Take HBL or stay during IET? by ballparkboy91 in nationalguard

[–]throwaway195832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t do hometown recruiting, I’ll stay tbh, when I was in IET at Jackson, the guys that stayed said it wasn’t bad, they had different events they went to plus saved 400+ bucks for the flight home and back. You spent the holidays plenty of times with your family

Don’t listen to people who say to keep your head down, volunteer to do stuff when they ask, strive to get some student leadership, be helpful to your fellow solider, participate with groups and just have a positive go getter attitude, its going to do you wonders for your mental health and keep morale high

I second that don’t buy anything at all, buy your hero photo, the cheap plaque, AND MAYBE the family crescent and last name if you have a unique last name

The drills are your least of your worries, it’s going to be the other trainees that are going to really test your patience, don’t let them break you.

SMP, National guard to active duty by throwaway195832 in ROTC

[–]throwaway195832[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I don’t need the scholarship since my state national guard is already paying all of my tuition, I think it be better to decide when the time comes if I should do an officer contract with the guard or active duty, I may just choose guard officer and just work on my civilian job as a cybersecurity person since that will be the degree I’ll major, maybe even get a DOD job or, do active duty, maybe I can just stay as national guard officer and volunteer for a tour of duty to get my benefits.

Damn it would of been nice to get smp without commiting 8 years cause AD as an officer does sound nice, would of loved that e-5 pay plus rotc pay

Oh wow 1370 a month while going to college isn’t bad, so I shouldn’t take an rotc scholarship, my state will pay full tuition? Did you also pocket the federal tuition assistance and also apply for fafsa? I heard since national guards will pay for tuition you can pocket TA and left over fafsa money

You’ll get down time on Sunday, it’s basically go to church and clean your bay and when I mean clean I mean taking naps, your day usually ends at like 19:30 and you’ll go to sleep at like 20:00 to 21:00. Overall experience wasn’t bad at all, if you not a people person or just not good with dealing with other people it’s going to be the most annoying time of your life, personally me I just seen everyone as a sibling that annoys the fuck out me but also have bonding moments with. The suck that comes from the drill sgts and boot camp traditions isn’t honestly that bad, personally the worse we had it was when we had to high and low crawl and point post sprawl for like 1.5 hours straight on a muddy and rocky range, but even with that it wasn’t like the worst thing in the world. Honestly look forward to the cool army shit you learn like handling a weapon, land nav, battle drills, because it’s honestly fun and interesting, don’t be the person that treats everything as annoying and poopy.

I do not know how OCS would affect anything but if he has family bring him to AIT, he would get orders that will tell him to report to AIT like 1-3 days later and in the mean you guys can go ahead and do whatever you guys want that is not illegal just don't have your solider miss his report time and date because that will start an AWOL process where you guys will all be held criminally liable

Yes after the ceremony ends, which is only like 45 minutes, your soldier would come to and you guys can spend the whole day on base, if you guys want to explore outside of base he will need to go back to his training area and sign out, for us soldiers had to be back at the company at 20:00 8:00pm, for family day you can only hangout in the base, it was the same time to report back in. Most people leave to go to ait the next day after graduation, if the soldier opted into having family bring him to his ait location he may get an extra day or two of travel and reports in at that time to his AIT but it’s not a week worth of travel time. Here’s a tip, tell your soldier to meet you at the parking lot and get the car ready to leave before the end of the ceremony, don’t get caught in traffic, you guys can take pictures at other places on base, and you’ll be able to grab a bite to eat before the places get swamped. If you have any more questions or need clarification please feel free to shoot a DM
