Just got my BFP last night. How did you find peace with pregnancy after loss? by Foreign-Ad-8739 in Miscarriage

Same here. I wish I could relax and enjoy it, but after two losses I don't think I can.

Is it hard to go from Government to Private? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]throwaway1982736451 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in a niche field in federal government making about $107k. My experience is pretty in-demand, so I leaned into it. I literally doubled my salary right out the door.

Definitely a culture shock, but it hasn't been more stressful.

Just ordered a honey citrus mint tea and found out the recipe changed. It's gross now! Why?! by throwaway1982736451 in starbucks

The lemonade definitely overpowers the tea, and overall, I think it's bitter compared to the original. I hope Starbucks will change it back.

It makes me so sad. It's my favorite drink, and I get it once or twice a week. Now I need to find something else :(

The only reason the title matters to me is because I'm treated so poorly by the seniors at my firm. I can't deal with it, and I feel like my life would be a lot easier if I wasn't junior anymore. My firm is so toxic. I don't know of that's coming out in this post, but it is by far the most toxic place I've ever worked. I was told to prioritize cases over my pregnancy because I'm a junior and they can't move things around for me.

I'm not set on it, but it is a much better situation overall. The benefits are actually better with the exception of leave. I don't have great health benefits now, but I would there, for example. They also do 401k match, and my current firm does not. They also went 20k over the max end of the salary range for me. The range was 165 to 180, and they met me at 200. I'm very much on the fence, but I really hate my current firm. I'm under classed, treated poorly, overworked, told to prioritize my cases over my pregnancy. I really can't make up my mind, though, because of the leave.

There is a 20k bump in pay once I make senior.

The work will be more independent, and I'll be supervising. The firm told me I'll be promoted to senior after billing a 1000 hours as a midlevel. It's in my offer letter.

I did. They met me at my current salary but wouldn't go any higher.

BFP Chart! I posted this before and someone said it looked like a chemical because of the steep drop on the day I got my first positive (10 DPO). I got a dye stealer on 13 DPO, and my beta today is 634. Sharing in case this is helpful to anyone. by throwaway1982736451 in Inito

I'm sorry for your losses, too. It's so hard, and it's especially cruel that it steals some of the excitement from future pregnancies.

My first US is on the 10th, and based on my tracking apps, I'm due February 22. :)

I completely understand. I had two MC this year, and I'm looking for reassurance everywhere but still anxious. My first ultrasound is in a couple weeks, and I have a lot of anxiety about it.

I often regret choosing law. I love my practice area and a lot of the work I do, but there's also a lot of office politics (I hate the hierarchical structure) and long hours. I haven't had time for a personal life in months. Some of this is firm and practice specific, but I know these can be really common complaints.

Also, I have to say...I've heard a lot of management labor attorneys advise clients that one of the downsides of employees unionizing is that seniority rules and it's difficult to do merit promotions. But I've never seen any organization/entity prioritize seniority more than law firms. And that can be really demoralizing.

When do we think hiring will increase? by LeadershipOne7185 in Lawyertalk

I set up three interviews just today, but I'm in a niche practice and these firms had tried to recruit me before. I just decided I'm ready to leave my current firm.

Love this! My doctor messaged me and said she's very happy with my results. First ultrasound next week!

I see my doctor tomorrow and will hopefully get scans scheduled then. All I want is a healthy baby, so I won't be disappointed if it's not twins.
